So much of his strength as a manager comes from his self-belief and imparting that onto his players, getting them to buy into his mentality and building up an aura. But with last season's abject failure and the fact that he seems to have been found out tactically, that aura is severely dented.

If he got sack from man u, I don't know where he'd go from there. That confidence has gone.

Chelsea are very much in the title race no European football either .

It's going to be a tight race only Liverpool have hugely improved of the leading sides

He was damaged at Real. He became more callous, and the pressure took its toll on him.

Sure he returned to England and won a title, but that said more about the quality of the league than it did about his managerial abilities.

Never did seem right that Mourinho's epic failure of last season resulted in him being rewarded with managing potentially the biggest club in England.

Paris St Germain would snap him up in a heartbeat as they are desperate to win the Champions League

You've got to remember that the narrative of that period wasn't that Mourinho had failed but that the players had failed him.

How much of that was spin emanating from the Mourinho camp is perhaps now becoming apparent.

That's football. A miserable failure rewarded with a top job.

I think there's a very definitive top 5 sides emerging this season, already firmly in place, and the winner will come from that group.

Man United look like the best of the rest, although Everton and Southampton might fancy their chances of supplanting them after today's events!

They have been plenty of managers in the past who have had a bad season and still be rewarded with the top job

Chelsea needed 4 goals to go fourth and it looks like they have done it. Right back in the title race.

Yes I think the top 5 will be the top 5 in some order, they all have much more qualify than man united

When was the last time Man United conceded four goals in a game

Mourinho's tactics in the 'big' games are predictable. Keep it tight like an away leg fixture, don't make any mistakes in the first 30 minutes........and pounce.

Well his team made a mistake in the first 30 seconds so it was always an uphill battle.

Yes. When you gamble like that you run the risk of something like this happening.

Some great wise words from Mourinho to Conte at the end of that game.

'Don't blame your doctor when you lose'.
