During a game too - must have been a kick/elbow/punch all in one!

Anyone know exactly what Rochdale's Calvin Andrew did to get a 12 match ban?

Did he kill the referee's dog or something?! Seems incredibly steep!

No idea. They used video footage to charge him yet i can't find a single clip on the internet or mention of it in match reports or anywhere until today. With so much Premier League reporting, analysis and coverage everywhere its show how only two leagues down is of absolutely no interest to the media, as something like this in League One has gone completely unnoticed and none of the media can inform us

Seems it was for elbowing another player, the ref missed it, had he not it would just have been a yellow card offence.

Most comments seem to be on the lines of 'How has Fellaini escaped this one?!''

Just an elbow isn't a 12 match ban though? There must be more to it surely.

Remember Barton getting 12 match ban when he went apeshit against Man City, after fouling Tevez, he gave Aguero a right royal knees up and an attempted headbutt against the biggest head in the league, Kompany.

A very memorable finale to the league... Agggguueerroooooo!

I agree, if it's just an elbow, then I'm expecting it to be a jump from the advertisements, Macho Man style.

For you, and other clubs fans I guess that it is, for us suffering as we watch our team and club, crumble almost before our own eyes, no it isn't.
For United fans who don't quality for a free Parker pen from Michael Parkinson, this is the first real mini famine and is hardly a calamitous decline (yet) - even Liverpool's much longer barren spell afrer a couple of decades of constant success has had the occasional high point. The likes of Preston, Bolton, Wolves, Forest, Villa, Portsmouth and Leeds have had far graver declines - but only the fans of clubs who've never known success or, heaven forbid, have gone out of business deserve any real level of sympathy.

In relative terns we're very fortunate and United fans more so than most. Most of the last three decades has been a blast for you guys, as it was for Liverpool in the 70s and 80s. Without the lows, the highs are nothing.

Oh yeah, I agree, there was more than a tad bit of sarcasm there in my post, about us suffering, as compared to other clubs, we as you say have been very fortunate, and continue to be so, in relative terms

Don't know if anyone is watching Eastleigh v Swindon in the FA Cup but the Eastleigh keeper has just made a quite magnificent reflex save.

Actually, the replay has shown that the save wasn't enough to stop the ball clearly going over the line - so Swindon have been unlucky.

It is a disgraceful 'assault' but still a 12 game ban for one violent offence is extremely severe. Duncan ferguson up in Scotland years ago for an incident is the only on field incident that I can think has received worse.

I can see where they're coming from with a ban like that. There's just no defence for it. He can't argue that he didn't mean to elbow the other player and caught him by accident, nor can he argue that it was a split second reactionary thing. There's just no benefit of the doubt to be given to him, he undoubtedly knew what he was doing and had time to think about it. Personally I wouldn't say the ban is too severe, it's more a case of some other bans being too lenient at times.

I think it was the disgusting, fully pre-meditated, nature of it. What kind of ban do you think would have been reasonable Nova?

PS I had Youtube on autoplay and this is the video that came right after Calvin Andrew's MMA attack:

Thanks for the link, that is disgraceful, and I am surprised that the police haven't got involved, as that is an act of pure thuggery, and is a case of assault.

He clearly went out of his way, to injure someone on purpose, with malice and intent, and 12 game ban should be the least of his problems, the club should really sack him for that incident.

That is one of the worst things that I have seen someone purposely set out to do on a football pitch, I don't care if there was provocation or not, you simply do not do what he did.

That's pretty much an assault in my eyes. Do that on a Saturday night in town and you're getting arrested with an assault charge on your head.

Based on this post, do you also believe Man United should have sacked Eric Cantona after his kung-fu incident?

I think 12 games is severe... I didn't say 'too' severe.

He was kicking racism out of football!

But on a serious note, what he did was a serious offence, and one that should not have happened, no matter the idiot in the crowd said.
He was very fortunate indeed to keep his job, and personally, if you take the fact that it was Eric, and Man United out of it, and just describe the actual incident, then yes, I do think that he went beyond what should be acceptable, and he should have been let go by the club.
You just cannot have people kicking and punching idiots like that, (I am very reticent to call that idiot a fan) just because they have said a few things that were inappropriate.

Nsue, Valencia and Walcott all didn't play last week with no warning, causing me to miss out on however many FF points that may have earned me.

Now it's happened again with Sterling, who's not in the City squad. I'm losing so many FF points because of this

EDIT: I've been able to take him out of my SkyBet team at least. So that's nice. Gundogan is £1.2 million cheaper as well, which is crazy.

I have had a bit of nightmare recently with my FF, just cost myself 12 points to put back in Aguero, ontop of Redmond and Hazard coming into my team.

Hopefully, this week will be a bit more successful!

Looks like that visit to the Nissan Factory in Sunderland during the week has done the trick today
