Liverpool supposedly have a weak defence, yet we've conceded 13 goals. There are 9 teams who have conceded more, and 2 teams who are also on 13 goals. Arsenal and Man City are on 10, and Chelsea are on 9. If Liverpool or Man City's defence is poor, then, statistically, Chelsea's don't look miles better at the moment. Chelsea have only conceded one less than City, and have +2 higher GD.

I can't find the stats, but apparently Liverpool's apparent weakness at set-pieces isn't as bad as originally thought. I even heard we've conceded the same amount of goals from set pieces as Spurs, the best defence in the league, who've conceded just 5 goals. I can't remember where Liverpool ranked on goals conceded from set-pieces, but it's not the highest, and not even the highest out of the top 6 or whatever.
Chelsea did have a dodgy defence and we solved it and have now had 5 clean sheets in a row. Think you'll have to ignore the stats on that one because we were playing a different system when we were conceding like that.

Liverpool don't have the worst defence in the league and my point wasn't about how many teams have conceded more than them. Out of all the potential title challengers Liverpool and City look the most vulnerable or at the very least don't have the same strength in defence as they do in attack. Arsenal and Chelsea do, in my opinion. Spurs will probably do as well if Kane comes back firing.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not writing anyone off and clearly things have been going well for Liverpool and City despite their defence not being considered as strong but I was just making the point that over a full season there's only so many games Liverpool would be able to outscore their opponents 4-3 or 3-2

Chelsea (or Conte) have found the best system for the players available. The anchor of Kante and Matic lets the forward players express themselves without looking over their shoulders and the wingbacks give balance. Kudos to the manager.

Yes, not only is Hazard thriving without the burden of defensive responsibility that he previously had, but it's rejuvenated Pedro who appears a lot more comfortable in this formation.

Well now I'd say Chelsea to win the league is the most probable outcome. We just have the right balance between attack and defence. Liverpool and City are great in attack but poor defensively and Spurs the opposite. Arsenal are probably closest to us in terms of that balance but the other 3 sides will suffer over a whole season if they don't address their issues soon.
Don't jinx it ! That's the last thing I want to hear, even from our own fans.
I'm liking what I'm seeing right now. But as far as I'm concerned, we now just look a bit more likely to finish in a top four position. Arsenal and Liverpool are playing well. Man City should have wrapped that game up today and still been top. Spurs are in the hunt as well, and I still wouldn't be surprised if Man Utd closed the gap to challenge.
Conte has found a system to suit the players and the whole team is playing with confidence. But it's basically the same personnel in the team that lost to Arsenal and Liverpool..and lost badly. So I'm not getting carried away.

Agreed RB. The main thing at the moment is we are playing well and competing.
We certainly didn't do that in those games you mentioned.
Shame there's yet another break now.

Spurs bossing the North London derby early on without getting a goal to show for it.

A fully match-sharp Harry Kane would surely have buried that header though.

Arsenal lead

Great ball in from Ozil put Wimmer in a no-win situation - although there was a bit of a hint of offside.

Replay shows that Sanchez for one was definitely offside under the interference interpretation.

The BT commentator proper heralding the return of Harry Kane here. Calm down mate, it was only a penalty.

Can't fault the intention being shown by Spurs at the start of this second half.

Kane nearly in again!

This is getting rather embarrassing for Watford.

I hope Liverpool don't let up the pressure, I haven't seen a good thrashing for a long while.

Us and Swansea showing the Premier league isn't always competitive!

Least we are away against the in form side.

Yep, these games are dispelling the myth that there are 'no easy games' in the premier league! I hear that all the time and it's just rubbish there are loads of one sided easy games for the bigger sides.

Why does the stadium announcer at Annfield always sound like he is always under water.

I know it's the same guy been doing it for decades but he still seems to be working with the same system he started with

...and what a nonsense design that's been mowed into the pitch by Leicester's groundsman.

I guess finally Liverpool are looking like the real deal this season, which is deeply worrying and concerning from my own perspective.

Hopefully they don't end up winning the league, but along with Chelsea, they look like the two best sides at the moment.

We don't 'look like' the best, right now we both are the best, and we are both improving match by match. Should be a good run up to Christmas if form sticks and injuries stay away. Not before time for us mind.

Could Liverpool still win the league even without having a clean sheet

No. Because they've already had at least one clean sheet that I can recall.

You two are the best two teams in the league, and it is going to be one heck of a race, I am just sad and disappointed that it looks like that we will not be involved in it.

Yeah, you have had to wait a while I agree about that (please could you carry on waiting just a bit longer? )
