Funny "Neutrals" thread!
This thread's never really been a neutral thread. More of a general football discussion thread.

Occasionally you get "neutrals", hiding behind the "neutral" part of the thread. But often people don't even hide their club allegiance or bias.

It's neutral in the sense that it's neutral ground and you can comment on other clubs misfortune without having to resort to being a WUM in a fans thread

Yeah, neutral ground is a much better way of looking at it. This thread is inhabited by people who don't know the meaning of the word "neutral", and are incapable of keeping their bias in their own club's thread. In treating it as neutral ground it'd make people more transparent.

Yes, that is a bit different, and to their advantage I think.
I don't really see any other league of similar standard having the two top teams at this stage having no continental competition to plan for.

At least any lingering hope that Leicester might have had of a top four place is now gone thankfully.

Paddy Power had them at 50/1 to be relegated earlier today but i suspect that'll change.

Don't forget though that their fans are just happy to be in the PL and anything more is a bonus. That'll be why they were booing at the end...

You have to remember that when European football finishes next month then the teams that are a few points behind them will be on a level playing field with the top two. So Liverpool and Chelsea wont have that advantage over the teams that are just behind them

Well, they could get relegated.

As people have been keen to point out repeatedly for the past few months, Leicester proved last season that anything can happen in football.

Has there ever been a team that has won the league and then get relegated the next season

Yes and no. The other teams won't be playing any more games than Liverpool and Chelsea for a while once the group stages of the European competitions have finished. However, the fact that Liverpool and Chelsea have played less makes them fresher with less accumulated tiredness which may be particularly important during busy periods like Christmas. They could still be at an advantage and have more in the tank.

Why does the stadium announcer at Annfield always sound like he is always under water.

I know it's the same guy been doing it for decades but he still seems to be working with the same system he started with
Someone once pointed out to me that he sounds like Steve Coppell and I always think of him now when I hear the announcements.

Oh certainly anything can happen as they proved, but now that the luck they had has deserted them, they're back to their rightful place.

Manchester City in the 1937/38 Season apparently. Won the title then went down the following season despite also scoring the most goals in the league as well, at least according to Wikipedia.

Yep, Man City did it, I think in the 1930's!

I see its a International break this weekend. How many is that since the season started 4 or 5? Seems ridiculous so many. Just as it gets interesting along comes another break. What's the worry about having a winter break when there's so many breaks anyway.

Yes, Man City got relegated in the 30s. My favourite part about that fact is that they were the league's top scorer that season. So they were the only champions to get relegated, and only team to get relegated with the most goals in the league.

After Googling to confirm what season it was (37/38), I see that the season before that, they became champions while Man United got relegated.

Is it just me or does it seem like there's been more international breaks so far this season? Sure this is the third one.

There has always been a November international game for years, but usually in the midweek, with games either weekend still.

The fortnight off is fairly new.

There is going to have to be a huge break around this time, to fit in the world cup after the Russian one.

I sure hope that you are right, but then again if City were to do so, the amount of over the top stories, headlines etc about Pep and his greatness, would make me throw up a fair few times.
So I think if we cannot do so, I would prefer Spurs or Chelsea to do so, as those I think are the least worst other options that look remotely like it could happen for them.

Liverpool and Chelsea both have the advantage of no European football so they can keep fresh.

City seem a bit complacent at times.

Still don't think Arsenal have what it takes to get the monkey off their back.

Still think defence will be key!

Unlike last season, this one is very hard to predict who will end up winning it, any of those teams plus Spurs could end up winning it, sadly I think we are too far behind to do so.
