In the long run, I would suggest so.

Ha.

I'm sure our resident expert will be along to explain how he still knows nothing about the art of defending.**

Sterling has improved a lot this year.

**Edit: As it turns out, he managed to post just before me

Sterling's improvement will hopefully impact on the national side as well come the next international tournament.

City were excellent in the second half , but it was made easier by an abject second half by Arsenal

2 loses out of nowhere for Arsenal, who is next for a bad run.

I assume that's arsenal in crisis now then

Arsenal are such cowards.

Once again they prove that they just do not have the fight within them to get results when the going gets tough in this crucial middle period of the season.

To lose two big away matches in a week after you've led in both of them speaks volumes.

Chelsea fans must be watching this all unfold with unrestrained glee.

Have either of the top two had a bad run yet, if not one of them perhaps (said more in hope than expectation)?

I'm lead to believe Burnley requested it as they had an evening game in London on Wednesday and didn't fancy going back again so soon

Arsenal's 2nd half summed up by that late free kick which they actually wasted time on then all Cech did was pass it to Ozil.

Wenger went beserk when they did that. Brainfart. We'd not have equalised anyway but when you're playing it backwards and sideways with 4 mins left, it's nuts

We didn't win a league game in September..then that run lead to this current run just nice to be at the other end of the table this Christmas!

yes, but the general attitude of giving up and utter fatigue shows possibly the challenge is over for yet another season and the Battle for Fourth has begun.

Right now, it's Chelsea's to lose, although an injury to Costa could change a lot for them.

I am just hoping that somehow someway we can get a chance at that top four, and to do so will still mean the teams there dropping more points, so you never know!

Im just waiting until the upgrade when hopefully the ignore function actually works. The forum will be a much nicer place if his posts are completely invisible.

Maybe the officials are getting tired so making mistakes - after all that seems to be the excuse for the players when they do as such.

I don't know if it stems from Wenger, but they do seemingly not have the killer instinct against the bigger sides, and just seem happy and content to just make up the numbers in the top four year after year.

Really, why be so nasty, is there any real need to be like that?

Another week when a referee is slaughtered on Saturday phone-in's, the BBC Live thread, Twitter and every rent-a-quote pundit.

Then I watch Match Of The Day and see that he got just about every decision correct.
