Perhaps the thing to combat that would be if people were only given permission to upvote and downvote posts sparingly.
Might work. Would struggle to stop the more frequent posters though.

No offence but you seem to be overthinking this issue.

The general point people seem to be making (albeit not me, I'm staying out of this) is that your high post count shows that you feel the need to post every single thought you have and reply to everyone who posts in this thread.

If, when you have a thought, you gave more consideration to whether it was really worth you posting it or not and cut down the number of posts you made accordingly, then maybe your presence on this or other threads wouldn't be so dominating to the point that it grates with a number of people?

As the saying goes, familiarity breeds contempt.

I don't meant to be overthinking the issue, I was only trying to see how things might work in actuality.

I get what you are saying in regards to myself, and perhaps I should post less, however if I see a post that I feel that I can contribute successfully towards, that is generally what I do.
I do not whatsoever set out to rile people up, or anything along that road, I genuinely just wish to have a good time, talking about the topics of the day with other people.

However if I need to cut down then fair enough I will try and do so, as all that I would like to see is a thriving forum, with as many people posting as possible.

Some people just aren't very self aware and have an inability to keep anything in. It is almost like forum Tourettes but without the swearing.

Very good way of putting it. Sums it up perfectly.

Who would be a referee eh?!
Sorry, I should've included that. It was the Leicester match. The red card was debatable but looked right, the penalty was blatant.

Most of the criticism, bizarrely seemed to be that he didn't make the same mistake that he made in midweek. I'm not sure if that gives us consistency or inconsistency?

People don't want that anyway. Watch if the referee gives a yellow card after 5 minutes inthe Merseyside Derby tomorrow. That will be wrong, too early, setting a precedent etc. So the arrangement of numbers on a stadium clock should decide when it is a yellow card.

Problem with that is it can be ruined by idiots who'll downvote to disagree rather than because they think a post adds nothing while posts that add nothing and are just "hahaha Loserpool lol" get upvoted enough to escape a block. I'd rather read a controversial but interesting post than one that is just crap.
Also, from my experience with that system, it hides posts in the same was the ignore function here does. It'll say there's a post, but it's below a threshold or has too many downvotes, with an option to expand it.

One thing that would help is if people weren't able to post so many times in a row on one thread. If you make a post in this topic, you shouldn't just be able to make another post, replying to someone else, straight away. Either it has to be after too much time has passed for you to edit your previous post, if it's the last post on the topic, or after someone else makes a post. If it encourages some of the most frequent posters to use multiquote and edit their post when they feel the need to convert every single thought (and inability to think) to a post.

This Merseyside derby has been god awful so far. Neither team seems to have any ability or desire to get their foot on the ball and hold possession.

Yet again we have a so called "big" game which is actually a snoozefest. The curse of the dreary Monday night game.

The curse of the Sky match slogan, more like.

Dirty dirty tackle from Ross Barkley that should have been an end to his dreadful night. Am I the only one who thinks he's a bit shite?

Barkley is one of those players who's going to be described as 'having great potential' until the age of about 29.

Second matchday running that Arsenal have lost and all their top of the table rivals have won.

I never thought I would live to see the day that Everton, in this Derby on level terms, would play for time with half hour to go.

Their record in this fixture is appalling. Is there a more one sided derby in terms of results where they're in the same league every season?
