Terrible match but a god awful performance from Everton in particular. Didn't hold possession at all, just shitty hoofballs all match.

Not the best Merseyside Derby at all tonight

From my lot:

Usual long ball tactics which are plainly not working

Much too easy for the red neighbours defensively as we were toothless

The usual piss poor performance that always seems to happen when we play the neighbours these days, no fire or passion from my lot when it comes to this particular fixture

Big clear out needed next month, and a few new faces in who will wear the blue shirt with pride as some of the current lot just don't seem interested

Whatever happened to that team who played so well against Arsenal, as that sure wasn't them tonight

Hopefully this is the last game to have the had the Sky hype machine taint it with a daft name.

They've all been dire.

Is it time to put to bed the myth that is ross barkley?

Lots of potential as a youngster but has reached his peak already, just not good enough?

Three decisions over this weekend where players could have received red cards , Barkley, Sissoko & Vardy . Probably the least dangerous tackle was was from Vardy yet he was the only one sent off . Just going by TV, the Barkley & Sissoko tackles looked more dangerous & reckless to me yet only a yellow

It's the fact that the ref has seconds (if that) to make a decision so a bad tackle from one angle could look rather tame and the reverse could easily be true.

They're introducing video reffing and hopefully it'll make a change for the better as the ref can ponder the decision perhaps with the usage of a tablet to give the correct decision...but how many times on things like match of the day with probably 20 cameras showing all sorts of angles does it still end up in a bit of a 50/50?

This was the same ref who failed to send off Rojo last week, so perhaps he was worried about making the same mistake again. I can forgive him the Vardy red - besides I don't even know if it WAS the wrong decision, it was an orange card for me, a tough call.

My fave refereeing decision from that Stoke Leicester match though was Pawson giving Erik Pieters a yellow card instead of Bruno Martins Indi. They literally look nothing alike. I assume it's now been transferred.

yes, its adding weight to the argument.

The refs got another two red card incidents wrong.

He's mentally shot right now and didn't take the loss of his England place very well. As you should know from last season, a lack of mental resolve can make good players look distinctly poor. He has plenty of ability but the difference at the elite level is between the ears.

Which would be fine, if the original post hadn't contained the words, 'this weekend'.

There are thousands of examples of poor decisions by refs, over time.

His situation reminds me a tad of Rodwell, who was hyped up when he was at Everton, but has not really progressed to anywhere near the level of hype that there was back then.

Apparently even after the video replay system was used to give a decision in the World Club Championship the team for whom the decision went against them still kept arguing.

That will have to stop if its to be introduced otherwise its a complete waste of time really as matches will still be held up etc.

Will decisions be accepted?

Take Wenger on Sunday for example - he thought the 2 Man City goals were offside but it was hardly clear cut even after a few replays.

Of course he did.

Was that for being slapped in the face?

We could do, but I do think Rodwell is more likely a comparable basis.

I don't know, both Rodwell & Stones went to Man City. Barkley has the talent, the other two was just hype.

Ibra didn't elbow anyone, at best, all he did was charge someone with his body, and it was a coming together with his shoulder.

Yes his shoulder their chin. The point is he was never going to get the ball and it could have been a red on another day.

Rodwell's problem was injuries killing his development, Barkley's never had any injury issues.

Yeah, his head hitting that poor West Brom player's hand was just vicious.

Very neutral of you. Not sure why you bother putting the question mark, a lack of any actual evidence has never stopped you before.
