Fuss over nothing?

Bit of humour after the game - nothing was said and Zaha seemed to take it ok himself.

I saw all the vardy masks that fans were wearing showing their support over the decision to ban him. I'm sorry but it was the right decision. It was a two footed challenge so therefore red.

What is the general thinking of the upcoming Saints v Spurs match, will Spurs come away with the win, as at least I think that they will?

They are looking like a side with lots of potential (Spurs), and will be pushing for a top four place for the remaining part of the season.

Very harsh red card, and penalty. Thought they changed rules so those type of foul wouldn't be a red. He didn't grab him just fell into him.

Completely agree. No chance that was a red card. He still even had the goalscoring opportunity.

I was expecting a Spurs win before kick off, so I am not too shocked to find out that they did, it just means that the top six are pulling away from the rest of the league somewhat.

It is going to be a bit of a battle to see who actually finishes in those much converted, and much in demand top four places, that much is for sure, only really Chelsea are at this stage, safe I think of finishing in a Champions League spot, the rest are up for grabs.

Sebastian Veron is coming out of retirement, age 41, to sign an 18 month contract with an Argentinian club, Estudiantes.

Former Manchester United midfielder Juan Sebastian Veron has come out of retirement at the age of 41 and signed an 18-month contract with Argentine top-flight team Estudiantes.

Veron, who hung up his boots two years ago, promised to play in the 2017 Copa Libertadores if fans bought 65% of the boxes at the club's new stadium.

Veron, also chairman of Estudiantes, will donate his salary to the club.

Not even halfway through this season, no one is safe in top, top 4 or top 6 yet. 20 matches still to go and anything can happen.

True, but it does appear that there is a significant gap starting to form, I would be even more shocked than I was last season when Leicester were top of the league at this stage, if someone not currently in the top six, were to come through, and finish in the top six, but you are are right to say what you did.

Notice that Carlos Tevez has followed the money & Oscar and joined Shanghai Greenland Shenhua for a reputed fee of £71.6m on a two year deal . Lot of money for a player past his best .

His wages of approximately over five hundred thousand pounds a week, is crazy, crazy money, no person could be at all blamed for accepting a contract like that!

Sky Sports are reporting that an unnamed Chinese club offer Real Madrid £256.6m for Cristiano Ronaldo. Apparently he'll make £85m a year.

It's like they just cheated money on FIFA or Football Manager and just went all out for Ronaldo.

The sums of money are simply off of any previous charts, I can't really take them in or really process them, it is crazy enough the wages in the Premier League, but these sums in China, are quite beyond belief.

I would feel like I was cheating if I did this on FM, but this is real life, and it is just madness!

Especially if they didn't pay any tax. Imagine that!

Not like European countries, where the players (and people) have to pay up to 50% of their wages.

It is astonishing what the Cheeses are milling to do to get the players that they so desire.

Offering players basically a blank cheque, a d allowing them to write in any numbers that they so wish to be paid, crazy!

I don't see how it is either a) possible to last long-term, or b) how clubs that have to as you say pay taxes can possibly compete.
The only thing that clubs in Europe have on their side, is the brand value of being associated with a club in say the Bundesliga, or Serie A etc, as if the Chinese league ever gets up to a good level (which will naturally take a while), then that is when they will pose a real and significant threat.

There's does appear to be something fishy going on in terms of the financials in China.

Apparently $120 billion has been stolen by corrupt Chinese government officials over several years, who are using the money to live a life of riley in another country. Does explain how so many of them are able to buy really expensive properties in London without batting an eyelid.

If the Government are funding these massive purchases and salaries, it does come across as a massive waste of taxpayers money and I don't think it will be sustainable.

Not much the taxpayers can do or say if they disagree with how the money is being spent, considering the system of government over there.

I agree though that this kind of outlay, without a proper way to at least bring some money into the league, is not sustainable, I'll will be interesting to see for just how long they keep this sort of level of expenditure up for.

That's about £1.6m a week .. a bloody WEEK !!

It's being reported it's been rejected though - makes you wonder if they offered that much purely because they knew it would be rejected.

I thought most of the club's involved were backed by Chinese companies, but no doubt they are state owned. Probably wrong though lol

I guess it could have been a publicity stunt, and letting people know they have money and are prepared to spend it.
