Newcastle have thrown in the towel at St Mary's.

Perhaps for the rest of the season too.

Palace will be safe with 35 points I reckon.

Benitez would sort Newcastle out if he's given enough time. Sadly I think they're heading down so we'll never know.

That is that for Aston Villa - Bournemouth go 2-0 up.

(Actually, not quite because Norwich are losing at Palace)

Down to Sunderland to win tomorrow to keep the relegation battle alive, otherwise that will be it I feel.

Villa may have avoided mathematical relegation today but another famous long-standing English club haven't - Bolton Wanderers.

They've gone down after losing at Derby - but at least they've survived as a football club full stop, which seemed unlikely when HMRC were trying to get them wound up over £2m of unpaid tax.

not really. Even if they lose tomorrow they will still have a game in hand on Norwich and they play each other next week, too.

Would you stop jumping the gun far bigger deficits have been made up

Chelsea really have not improved much since mourinho went tbh

Id fancy Leicester to win there the last day but they probably won't need to

Fair enough, I would be shocked if the bottom three were not the teams that do go down, at best it is between Norwich and Sunderland for that last place.

You must have been shocked a lot of years in the pl so if a team making up a 4 point deficit with a game in hand and 6 games to go is "shocking"

It will be considering Sunderland have not really shown much in the way of form to do such a thing.

If I am in a minority of people in thinking that these three clubs that are currently in the relegation zone will be the ones that go down, then so be it.

I think Sunderland and Newcastle are gone with villa.

If as likely that happens was the last time the three promoted sides survived . I know it happened in the 90s once but I am sure it has since then

You're correct. Plenty of football left to play.

Surprisingly it was as recently as 2012. That's the only time since prem league stared.
