This summer is a huge one, as we really could be left behind big time, if we get it wrong with our manager, as there are so many high profile, and high quality managers coming into a league with other similar ones already here.

Nobody would have guessed LVG would be so poor with his WC success and very good CV.

With Moyes you could see it coming.

Totally irrelevant comparison.

Moyes was out of his depth from the off, won nothing, qualified once for the Champions league and he got knocked out in a play off.

Absolutely staggering how anyone thought he was the right fit for United.

Van Gaal had the pedigree and the character but I think he underestimated English football and it hasn't worked out.

Huge difference between the two.

Not really they are both inept for Man Utd...expect the only difference is you have given LVG a little more time to screw things up.

Yes really because you are applying hindsight to the point that LVG "was never" the right appointment.

The reality is that very few people would have said that after the last WC.

Looking at the top six over on twitter. This is a one off season. Much as the neutrals would want this season to be a watershed where teams from mid table can challenge for the title in the future. The new tv deal will make the likes of man utd chelsea arsenal and man city even more powerful and will make the top four a case of musical chairs between them. So normal service will resume next season.

Out of interest, would you have Moyes back at Everton?

They don't need him anymore.

Bobby brings entertaining football but his teams can't defend for toffee.

I wonder who needs or would like Moyes to be their next manager?

Will he be more in demand than say Rodgers, who is also looking for another club to manage.

Villa would take him or Bolton.

Bolton getting relegated I think might put a spanner in the works there.

I'm a Everton fan, I would take Moyss back.

At least he would get us defending well again, I think Everton fans, would be happier us winning 1-0, and him replacing a striker with a Defensive Mildielder and holding on for the 1-0.

Half tempted to become more of a Leicester fan, but I guess I would then become a Glory Hunter

But this afternoon, I was more nervous watching Leicester than I have with Everton for years

That's outrageous.

What kind of fan are you?

I agree like I think Jamie Carragher said on Super Sunday, we may not see a season like this for 50/50 years.

Another thing what has made this season odd is, you normally get a slightly topsyturvy season, after a international tournament.

If I was Vardy Mahrez and Kantie, I would not go anywhere until at least January, cause if that was me, I would wanna carry on the journey, the next season.

I'm a armchair fan, but have never been to Goodison Park, and because of disability, and other issues never likely to.

I am an Everton fan, but let's put it this way, if Leicester needs the 3 points to win the title on May 7 against Everton at the KP I know who I will be getting excited for

If Leicester needed to beat Liverpool to win the title, and Liverpool had nothing to play for I'd still want Liverpool to win. How many Chelsea fans wanted Liverpool to win in 13/14? Or Crystal Palace fans? The clubs clearly didn't want us to win and I doubt the fans did.

I'm okay with Leicester winning the title but I'm not going to declare myself a Leicester fan.

That's an amusing mindset given the stick Liverpooll fans got when they trotted something like this out in the early 90s. You may have the fanbase globally but on the pitch there's now a massive chasm. Only de Gea would get a look in at any of those clubs so to build back up to compete with them would take both time and a lot of money. That process will take even longer if you miss out on CL. Why would Kane, for example, abandon CL football and a likely title challenge next season for the unknown quantity that is United? That's why LVG must go in favour of a manager with a more modern outlook on the game. Having a "We are United" mentality might not be enough now that more clubs have money and/or the financial security to keep hold of their best players and improve. The summer and next season are huge for some of the "big" clubs. Another false move and things could get really difficult.

Chelsea will certainly return to where they were, and they'll finish above Tottenham next season.

Man U were dreadful today, why there is a possibility of LVG staying for his final year of his contract is beyond me.

Jose would have moved on to another club, all the big English Clubs will be getting new managers bar Wenger, and Man U will be in a worse mess than now

No, and I hope the board would never reconsider him ever again....they way he left Everton was an absolute disgrace, couldn't even wait a full 24 hours before he turned up at Man Utd's training ground-, and still an official Everton employee.

Even if he didn't do what he did, I still wouldn't want him back as to me that is a backwards step.

What role does a Assistant Manager have during the match, cause watching Tottenham v Man U this afternoon, Ryan Giggs just sat there looking bored.

If Man U means so much to him, shouldn't he be on his feet, screaming and bawling out to the players on how to improve.

Agree would be happy with a 1-0 win, but really we should have no need to replace a striker with a DM, the defenders just need to do the basics and stop listening to Martinez.

What you say is very true, and our fans have certainly given Liverpool fans enough stick in this recent period of our domination, about them "living in the past", so I can understand if it now seems like a little bit of karma is kicking in!

We do have to change our manager for a more progressive one, as it does seem LvG is stuck with outdated tactics/philosophy in today's modern game.

Our next step after that will be crucial, as we could so easily just fade away back into midtable if we are not careful.

With clubs having more money than every before, just splashing the cash is not going to cut it anymore, you really do have to offer something extra, as I agree with you in regards to Kane, I don't see why he would join us at this stage.
He could very easily get a bigger pay check at Spurs, if that is what him or his agent were after, so our once stronger chip is very much negated there, and we are not currently in a position to say "join us if you want to win the major trophies", as we once could almost guarantee to players.

It will be a long road back to the top if we don't act very shortly, other clubs have noticed the coming of clubs like West Ham, Spurs, and even Leicester, and have tried to act accordingly (Chelsea with Conte, City with Guardiola, and before that Liverpool with Klopp for example).
Without having access to more insight or insider knowledge, it does look like that we are unwilling or unsure about what our next step might be.
It is very easy to make the link that José is coming to us, but I don't know for sure how true or not that may be, only time I guess will prove that.

We just cannot afford to be left behind, as next season will be one heck of a dog fight to just get in the top four places, nevermind actually winning the league.
