Incredible deal
West ham have
paid £15m of the £272m bill to convert London's Olympic Stadium into a ground for Premier League football, it has been revealed.
And the club will pay £2.5m in rent a year, the London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC) confirmed after a battle over releasing details of the deal with the Hammers.
The LLDC today made the terms of its deal public after a
Freedom of Information Act request was submitted by a coalition of London supporters’ trusts.
Any naming of the Stadium deal will see the first £4m return directly to the corporation with a 50:50 split on further income, whilst the contract also provides further bonuses for the public purse should West Ham enjoy success on the field.
West Ham would be obliged to make further payments if they finish above 10th in the Premier League, whilst a
Champions League triumph at any stage over the next 99 years would see the Hammers paying
£1million.
