I've had a season ticket for several years and people are encouraged to speak up against certain kinds of filth. People chanting in support of Marlon King's conviction for instance were shouted down without anyone being punched, I'd be quite surprised if the corporate Premier League still has much of a snarling animalistic edge to it in that regard.

If a Marlon King song caught on you aren't going to stop it.
The fact that Cov fans aren't exactly a huge swarm of humanity would have probably played a part, but a lot of people happy to chant some questionable stuff at other times weren't allowing it to go on so it's not exactly purely black and white between angry violent people making rape jokes and a prawn sandwich brigade sitting on their hands applauding the opposition for a jolly good show. |

Steve McClaren has been sacked as manager of Newcastle Utd.
Usually it's Sunderland changing their manager for the last few games and scrambling safety as a result but not on this occasion. Cue the arrival of Mr Benitez at St James's? |

The people going on away days to Liverpool are mostly your hardcore, not the docile day trippers waiting to be entertained while eating a prawn sandwich. They are creating more of an atmosphere than people in their living room tutting.

I think Benitez can do well if the players start to play for him.
Will organise them well which would be a start. |

Seems that way, going by this post in the McClaren thread: Quote:
He is up in the North East (at the moment) for negotiations according to Lee Ryder:

That's exactly what happened, people started drowning it out very quickly.

I'm just telling you what happened without punchups or prison snitches on these occasions. This was in person, rather than on the internet.

Armchair fans like you contribute nothing to the atmosphere. Go watch cricket or rugby if you want to sit next to each other and have a spiffing good time.
![]() You seem to tolerate imbecilic and vile behaviour - that's your choice. However, most right-minded people actually want it to stop. If we can't rely on the tribal types to self-police then it will soon be the norm that the clubs can clearly identify these cretins and work together to ban them from grounds. You are making a massive fool of yourself here. A lone voice largely. If you are feebly trying to impress anyone with your caveman chest-thumping, it clearly isn't working. Thanks for giving us all a big chuckle, though. I nearly wet my armchair...

When thousands start singing the offensive songs there isn't much to do but ride it out or don't sing if you don't like it. Trying to shout them down just ends up in punch ups or asking fans to grass on each other.
I would think any reasonably minded person would report someone next to them spouting abuse. If I got on a bus and someone is spouting racist abuse I would have no issue reporting them just as I would have no problem doing so at a sporting event. Football fans get no free pass. |

You appear to have drawn up a woefully inaccurate picture of me. Nice work. Then again, my picturing you as a scrawny buck-toothed loner bent over a keyboard with saliva dribbling down his chin is probably wholly inaccurate too...

Antisocial behaviour is reported quite often at games, this isn't some pioneering experiment where the first person to attempt it will be shivved.

Exactly. Football clubs encourage having the morons reported so they can keep them out.

Maybe you haven't noticed outside that bubble you live in most grounds wont have fans singing the bile you seem to admire.

Yes I often read about 10,000 fans arrested at a game come to think of it.

His point is, WHEN (not if) liverpool fans sing about Munich at their next meeting, you will not see 10,000 away fans arrested and put into the cells.
You will see, well, zero. |

You also won't see flying unicorns, so it's lucky nobody claimed you would.

And if you start, why draw the line at Hillsborough/ heysel / Munich. There are other chants that are equally disgusting, they would have to be dealt with in the same way. |

Anyone who spouts abuse which is against the Law deserved arresting. The other stuff which is just distasteful and crude should be policed by the fans themselves. |
