Against the run of play but I have seen players sent off for that sort of tackle - not intended, but Wisdom could have seriously injured Borini. Hm, and the studio ref is saying something similar

2-0, fantastic clinical attack from Sunderland.

Jermain Defoe is just the kind of player you want on the end of those chances.

It has to be said, though, that both goals have come from basic individual errors from Norwich players.

Great goal. Norwich in a right mess, now.

Never much cared for him, but Defoe has been a very good acquisition for Sunderland; he could well help them escape regulation.

For all the barracking that Andre Marriner is getting from the Norwich fans, it's hard to recall a wrong decision he's made in this match.

Did Wisdom slap Watmore then? Bold thing to do when you're on a yellow card.

Norwich not playing like a team which fears losing control over its own premier league status. Perhaps their manager should have told them at half time to remember what it was like watching Liverpool's resurrection in Istanbul and Anfield ...

Okay let me try it, Manchester City will easily win the Champions League, and easily finish in the top four, there is not a cats in hello chance of them not doing so.

That's that, three points for Sunderland.

Even with matches to play, it's hard to see how Norwich are going to finish above them and stay up; they just lack the quality that Sunderland have been able to find and make count at key moments during today's match.

This scoreline is surely going to do wonders for Sunderland?

On the flip-side, what a crushing result for Norwich.

Yep, good strong committed performance from Sunderland, fully deserve the win. Norwich after they went 2 behind reminded me of Villa and they are well on the way to joining them in the Championship. A disastrous result for Norwich.

Two other ramifications from this result: Villa are still not down, and Newcastle have renewed hope as they'll be only three points off safety if they beat Swansea later.

LOL

Sunderland could do a Leicester, avoid relegation and win the PL next season.

Somebody tell that idiot Chris Sutton that it doesn't matter whether a player wins the ball first if he puts in a challenge over the top like Wisdom did on Borini.

Is he still going on about that? I heard him saying much the same at half time. I find it very difficult to respect people who are so partisan they are unable to see and think straight.

Trying to decide if any of the four current matches in the premier league are worth watching and according to the BBC only Newcastle of the 8 teams playing have actually manged a shot on target. in the plus 20 minutes played so far.

I suppose for Villa, having lost 8 straight matches, this is resembling one of the high points of their season, 25 minutes gone and not even a shot on target from United. Time was, playing as they now are, they would already be several goals down at Old Trafford.

Rashford scores again..........is Roy going to have to think about him ?

He's a fresh player, in form, the opposition will never have heard of him........

I don't think there's a cat in hell's chance that Roy will pick him unless there's a spate of injuries but he could be an inspired choice

I'm not a fan of Chris Sutton as a pundit to be honest. He's just a bit...odd.

West Brom get a penalty against Watford. Berahino takes it, Gomes saves.

West Brom get a second penalty. Berahino once again takes it. Gomes saves.

Next penalty West Brom get, I'm guessing Berahino won't be taking it.

I've seen a fair bit of Chelsea in the last few weeks and I'm really not seeing this huge improvement that Hiddink has supposedly overseen.

What a signing de Bruyne is! He is going to be so influential next year for City as long as he stays injury free.

I think he's a real player and a half.........they should be building the team around him next season
