Why would Blanc break his contract to come to us, he is at a very wealthy club, who are presumably paying him a fairly decent wage, and he has a very competitive team on his hands.
Yes the French league is not all that competitive, but I just don't seem him having the urge to leave them for us, the ex-player thing might not be as big a pull seeing as he was only here for a very brief period. He's also an ex player so that could be an influence in his decision making. |

I don't know that the captaincy doesn't matter, the team certainly does appear to lack leadership and direction on the pitch. Gone are the days when United had 5 or 6 leaders, now there aren't any.

Barring money, I see absolutely no reason why De Gea would want to stick around.
He must be totally fed up. If De Gea does leave (which you couldn't really blame him this time, but I am still doubting that he will unless we get a stupidly high offer, as he did just sign a new deal recently), then trying to adequately replace him if Neuer is out of the question, will be a huge task. |

I'm actually angry. I've never felt this sort of football rage before.
Could be a pitchfork riot next Thursday if that cretin is still here.

We've not had a captain of late who's galvanised the team when it's been needed. In times gone by it's been the likes of Bruce, Keane, Neville and Beckham all drove the team till the end of the game and beyond. It was the driving nature of them all that helped us score so many late goals.
Over the past few years now, we've just not had a captain who has done that, it shows in so many area's no questions each other, no one screams and shouts, it's no wonder why at times we look like a group of individuals rather than a team. I know it takes a certain type of person to be a captain, but I find the likes of Rooney, Smalling and Carrick just don't get the team motivated, I can give Smalling some grace here, but the other two are senior players who have won so many things and have seen how influential a captain can be. |

He must be totally fed up. We have to hope Mourinho comes in and makes him feel like a king. If there is one guy that can improve morale, he can (before the inevitable fallout in year 3 of course). |

Maybe for the challenge, in the same way Klopp went to Liverpool who were playing the Europa league.
He's also an ex player so that could be an influence in his decision making. |

If everything worked as you seem to think it does, then nobody would ever move clubs. Maybe Blanc would fancy the challenge? Maybe it's all a bit too easy in France? Perhaps he would quite fancy the prospect of being the man to finally lay Ferguson's ghost to rest, at an iconic club? Why did Guardiola cash in his chips at Bayern, to take on City? Why did Klopp decide to take the Liverpool job, when there would almost certainly have been more recently successful sides in for him? It's not as simple as 'Hummm....but he already has a job, so why would he want a different job?' People with jobs understand this. |

You lost to Liverpool 2-0 with barely putting up a fight, and we weren't amazing either. The choice of captain is possibly the last thing you should be concerned about. It really doesn't matter. You suggest Smalling, but if Smalling should've been captain he'd have shown it, he shouldn't need an armband to show some leadership.

because we are manchester united you turncoat. we have the history, the fans, a more competitive league. it is a more prestigious job.
you should be ashamed of turning against your side because theyve lost a game. I am not that first, and I have not done the latter, I gave my opinion as to why I think Blanc would not come here, I have not turned against my side, I am still a supporter, and I always will be. That doesn't mean that I think everything is fine and dandy with the club, and that we are the King's of every castle. |

Scholes and Rio are absolutely nailing the state of United at the moment, yet neither will actually commit to saying that Van Gaal should go.
I wonder why? |

OK, with a team no where near as good as this and against a side much better than Liverpool, we came back and beat Barca from a 2-0 defeat in Europe many years ago... I think if I watch that game on youtube over and over for the next week or so, I'll convince myself that we can still go through.

De Gea's contract doesn't secure Man United's hold over him, either. It just means they get a bit of money for him in the summer. He's only staying because of an administration error, not through choice, and it's not like the club are making his decision to stay or go any harder, unless they get a new manager in before Real Madrid are back in for him and he happens to like him.

I wouldn't waste your time Tribec.
Looking back on the past is all the United's social media have done this season. We're becoming post 80s Liverpool by the game. |

Bryan Robson: "If you see team mates being weak on the pitch, getting knocked over easily, somebody (on the pitch) has got to do something about that. If Keane or Scholes got knocked over they'd get angry. You don't see any of that in this team"

So, for whatever reason, you've decided to ignore everything else that I posted, in order to focus on that throwaway line.
Why did Klopp decide to take the Liverpool job, when there would almost certainly have been more recently successful sides in for him. It's not as simple as 'Hummm....but he already has a job, so why would he want a different job?' People with jobs understand this. Guardiola had his contract coming to an end at Bayern, so he wanted a new job, so he was always on the move, Klopp was a free transfer, as he was unattached when Liverpool approached him, Blanc on the other hand, his contract is not expiring anytime soon, and so his situation is not like either of the two you mention. Belive me, I would quite like Blanc here, he is a good suggestion, but nothing about his current situation says that he will be up for moving in the summer to us or anyone else. I would be totally shocked if he were to move as they are a team very much on the cusp of doing well in Europe, which is where their owners want to be doing well. Why would he want to give that up to come here in our current state? Money and the challenge is surely not that big a deciding factor is it? He is already very wealthy you would imagine, as he had a very good top level playing career, and his managerial stints have been at good well paying places, so as good a package as we could offer him, their owners could, if they really wanted him, offer just as good, if not a much better deal, so we would get beat on that side of things most likely. So the challenge, is all that is really there to pull him to us, and although the challenge to restore this fallen giant is huge, I just don't see it as being enough to persuade him to leave PSG. |

You can just see from the manner of Klopp and how he conducts himself that he must inspire the whole of the Liverpool quad.
I really wish we could have that. LVG is just so dour. |

I'm not getting involved in yet another circle of tedious frustration and repetition. Think what you like, Batdude.

A new deal which we know nothing about.

Who knows about his recent contract though, but if he does leave for a small fee there would be uproar I could very well imagine (even if you could hardly blame him for leaving this time). |
