It may go against the common consensus, but Fellaini was nowhere near our worst player, tonight.
Rashford and Martial were anonymous, Depay only came to life in the last 5 minutes, and Carrick was a disaster. Smalling was also pretty poor. Fellaini is not what anyone thinks of as a 'United player', but he gets a colossal amount of unjustified stick, at times. Apart from De Gea, the rest of them do not deserve any praise whatsoever, what was it one shot on target (if you can call it that from Schneiderlin) all match, and looking very defensively inept all night long. Just nothing good at all to write about from an outfield perspective. |

I don't think Fellaini was great tonight, but he certainly had a sense of urgency about him that many of his team mates didn't. Obviously if he could pass, shoot, restrain himself from fouling then that would be great.
He was one of our better players tonight though. That is how bad we were. |

He actually got stuck in, and won the ball back a few times. He also wasn't far off with that header.
Is Fellaini 'class'? No, of course not. But he was one of very few who looked like he was trying to inject some life into us. He just seems to be the 'go to guy', when it comes to dishing out blame. Tainted by Moyes? Perhaps. |

Out of interest, which of the outfield players would you say had the best game?
I was extremely disappointed by all of the outfield players, so please don't think that this is me exonerating him from the result, only De Gea comes out with praise. |

He might not have been our worst player, but he was very far away from being our best player.
Did you even watch the game? |

I don't think any outfield player covered themselves in glory, they each performed well below what we should expect of them, but if I was pushed to say which one was the least worst player, then probably my vote would go to Mata, he at least was trying some forward passes and looking to make things happen, it didn't come off for him, and he didn't create much if anything, which just sums up the entire team and their performance.
I was extremely disappointed by all of the outfield players, so please don't think that this is me exonerating him from the result, only De Gea comes out with praise. |

I am still puzzled as to how he got a yellow card for kicking the grass.

Did you even watch the game? The gap between De Gea, who was our best player, and the rest of the team was huge. |

You must be quite easily puzzled, then. It's called 'intent'.

I know Rooney is injured. But has anyone seen anything of him lately?
He's our club captain and yet not a peep. |

Poor performance tonight, but I guess we were due a defeat to Liverpool. 2-0 down after the first leg isn't irretrievable by any means but the lack of an away goal could kill us. We just have to go for it in the second leg from the off, that's not really LVG's style though.

I am so embarrassed that our manager is saying a Manchester United team "could not cope with the pressure" of the game last night.
Embarrassed because it's true. This team has no beating heart and lacks fight, that's why I can hardly bear to watch them these days. I want LVG to go, it is never going to change so long as possession stats are all that counts. |

While the captaincy is a total irrelevance maybe Rooney could've been useful, he'd have got them up for it anyway. Fellaini was at least getting stuck in, he appreciates the fixture I think. Add in his time at Everton and he'll enjoy the rivalry. As would Rooney. The other players should've taken some initiative, if they can't get up for a European game against Liverpool then the players share a large part of the blame.
Given he wanted out, and had his big move denied by an administration error, and the way you're playing and the situation with LvG I think De Gea deserves respect for his professionalism. I mean if he let his head drop then he'd only suffer for it, being a goalkeeper, but it could've happened. |

What's surprising is that you don't hear pundits or fans clamouring for Rooney to be back over the last few weeks, or at least ruing the fact that he is missing.
Fellaini was decent last night and you wouldn't expect De Gea to sit back and not attempt to save shots that are straight at him. |

Business as usual here then?
I think the most disappointing thing about last night was witnessing a very good team performance by Pool. One that didn't rely on individuals having the game of their life, just solid teamwork and sensible tactics. That's what LVG promised in the early days, that he briefly looked like delivering this time last year but overall has never really come to fruition. If there is a way back for him it's surely going to take a lot of time, going back to the beginning, and i'd be surprised he wanted to do that. It's inevitable he will leave at the end of the season, any other outcome would be terrible for this club. |

Why would Blanc break his contract to come to us, he is at a very wealthy club, who are presumably paying him a fairly decent wage, and he has a very competitive team on his hands.
Yes the French league is not all that competitive, but I just don't seem him having the urge to leave them for us, the ex-player thing might not be as big a pull seeing as he was only here for a very brief period. Klopp went to Liverpool because they are Liverpool fc. United are 1 of the top 3 biggest clubs in the world. Also the challenge of winning in a different league would prove huge when all you have to do in France is turn up and get a result. |

I would love to be proven wrong, and for Blanc to quit his PSG job and come back here, but I honestly don't really see it happening this summer especially. |

I am not too sure the "because we are Manchester United" line would be a good enough reason for him to change his job and come here, the bit about getting fed up of winning the French league, might be more of a solid reason, however whilst there is still the target of being the first PSG coach/manager to win the Champions League , then I don't see that we would be that much of a pull over that, as big of a club as we are.

Manchester United are one of the biggest teams in the world. What's the point of being a manager if you wouldn't be tempted by that job?
If Blanc even had a sniff of the job he'd be out of PSG quicker than you can say croissant. Firstly Blanc and the PSG owners seem to have a fantastic relationship hence the renewed contract. They could go and get someone bigger than Blanc but they really believe in him. Walk away from a recently newly signed contract after the faith they have shown in him? Not a chance Secondly I think Blanc has genuine aspirations to win the CL or at least reach the final. He has a much better chance of doing that with PSG than he would with Utd in the short term. Thirdly The project at PSG is far from finished and I think Blanc is still probably thinking about the team he wants for the next couple of years. Quote:

Does anyone dispute that he would be tempted? Timing matters as well. I believe Pep would of been hugely tempted by Utd but again the timing wasn't right simply cos City had already done all the work.
