That's wrong. We'd enter the EL 3rd qualifiers. 3 days after the last China match!

Hate to say this but it's a win win for us.

Win Tuesday and get into Europe via the league.
Lose the fa cup and don't finish in the Europa spots, means van gaal definitely goes and a decent try next season under a new manager

I stand corrected TBH the 5th place and european league/cup positions confuse me.

I get that if you win on Tuesday and win the FA Cup Southampton claim your league place.

If you lose on Tuesday but win the FA Cup. Southampton still have the league position.

If you win on Tuesday but lose the FA Cup. Southampton have to Qualify?

If you lose both you have to Qualify?

Are Crystal Palace also put into the Qualifying position if they lose the FA Cup final?

BBC just reporting that the device was actually a training device left behind from an exercise! You couldn't make it up.

No Palace don't get a place if they get beat in the final.

If we get beat in both, then we have no European football at all next season to look forward to.

Also this from Sam Lukhurst on Twitter :-

.@gmpolice on Old Trafford evacuation: 'A training device was accidentally left by a private company following a training exercise.' #mufc

I suspect that company won't be invited back again.

If the Bournemouth fans have got any sense they'll get together and go after this lot for their costs.

The perfect end to an absolute clusterf*ck of a season.

This company will be lucky to be trading once all of the lawsuits have come in!

Surely at some point, someone would have said "hang on guys, we did some training last week didn't we?"

Just ridiculous.

The club should repay the costs of the day to all supporters.

That "You had one job" meme on social media has probably just been given a new lease of life...

Embarassing for the club though how it has been present but only noticed when fans were present.

Gary Lineker just stole your line.

Unbelieveable. Just unbelieveable crass stupidity, incompetence, it's an outrage! Yep, an actual real-life outrage.

Surely it should be the company who left the device who should pay up to the fans who have been put out of pocket though you would think that surely someone would of cottoned on that they had left the package behind and the security staff at Old Trafford would of spotted the package well before the game, a farce all round. However on the other hand a huge well done to all the stewards etc who performed superb work in getting everyone out safely and efficently as they wouldn't of known it was a hoax.

I wonder if it's the same company who arrange the club's London coach travel.

Its a fix, United know there is nothing to play for now meaning they can rest key players on Tuesday for the FA Cup Final. Think about it LVG can now play the 'first team' on Tuesday and have those who have actually bothered this season to play in the final, the young ones with De Gea and Mata leading them in. (For the record I know it isnt a fix)

That seems to credit van Gaal with an intelligence I haven't noticed this season. (I know you know it isn't a fix )

Manchester United will refund all ticket holders & then offer them free entry. Applies to both sides. Will cost @ManUtd around £3m. [BBC]

Good that the club are doing this but it just highlights what a farce today has been and how bad we as a club look when a 'suspect package' can be left undetected for several days, makes you wonder what the security guards do at Old trafford

Surely their would be a sweep of the stadium on the morning of matchday.

You can bet that there will be far more stringent checks from now on in.

What an absolute farce, but, as you say, a somewhat fitting end to such a mess of a season. Red faces all round!
