A lot of the papers seem to be pushing the line that De Gea will look to leave, if Van Gaal stays for another year.
However, there appears to be a suggestion that it might just be a bit of muscle-flexing, by Jorge Mendes, in an effort to pressure the club into appointing Mourinho.
I'm certainly no Mendes fan, but if it results in De Gea staying and Mourinho in the big chair, I'm all for it.

There's also a story in one of the papers about how Mourinho will start talking to PSG if nothing's sorted with United in the next couple of weeks.
Again, no doubt all part of the game by Mendes.

He got bored playing two high profile games a season whilst at Real Madrid, so why would he go to PSG, where if they only win the league by a gap of 20 points that is considered a failure?

There's every chance that there's at least some truth in it, especially as it's being run by multiple outlets.

Well it is "silly season", as you always tend to get stories linking players away, usually though they tend to be after the season has finished not before it has!
As for this one in particular, well we have already had loads written about it last summer, I would have thought that his new deal that he signed would have put some of this to bed, but I guess not.
Lets wait and see, if he were to leave, and that is still a huge, gigantic if, then I would want us to be compensated as fairly as possible, and since he is in the top two or three keepers in the world, then a fee should match that, none of this £30-40 million nonsense, it should be way higher than that, if not double that.

There's no point in having this conversation, as you have proven time and time again that you can't grasp how these things work.
£30-40m for a goalkeeper is not 'nonsense', it's realistic. You don't seem to realise that goalkeepers aren't valued as highly as attacking players.
There is absolutely no way that we'd get £80m for De Gea.
If I was De Gea, faced with no CL football and the prospect of working with Van Gaal for another year, then I'd be looking to go too.

Firstly the fee - to expect £80m for a goalkeeper is quite possibly the most bonkers thing you've put on here and let's be honest you've covered some ground!!

There is all of that, but he did sign a new long-term contract with us, lets not forget about that, so he must have wanted to stay with us, as what would be the point in signing it, if he wanted out of the club?
How much would Bayern charge for Neuer if it were possible to sign him?
As we are talking the very highest elite of the elite goalkeepers here, and make no mistake De Gea is in that very high end bracket.
Getting "only" £30-40million for De Gea would be selling him on the cheap, and if that were to be the range of figures that he went for, then I for one would feel not only sad that he left us, but also that we sold him below value.

I do understand how things work thank you very much.
We should be looking to get as much as possible for De Gea, as he is in the very elite bracket of goalkeepers, and as such, we should be looking for a price to reflect that.

Because as you stated quite often he wanted to play in the Euros and without playing then he wouldn't go.
I think I'm right in thinking his contract was at the end or about to end - did you expect him to sit at home and post on DS all day?
And as everyone has pointed out anything above £30-40m is ridiculous.
AS have said today that he has a release clause of 50m euros (about £40m) but that it expires on June 15 to avoid the late rush happening again.

De Gea isn't going to be available on the open market though. There will be no competitive bidding for him. United would get only what Real Madrid are willing to pay. Or much more likely, what they have already agreed they would pay, if they still want to buy him this Summer.

Let's see what happens, as if Real do want him, send with a long-term contract with us, we should up the price if they really do want him.

As it should be, we looked like idiots after Sunday's debacle knowone should be above being searched we have to ensure that everything is done correctly to prevent anything like that happening again tonight however unlikely that is, safety always has to come first, i just hope a proper check of the stadium has been done this time
