I'm LVG out myself but people abusing him on twitter for thanking the crowd are ridiculous. I mean what was he supposed to say. Anyone booing in the middle of these kind of speeches is just being ridiculous imo.

FA Cup win would potentially be bittersweet for me happy for us after such a long wait to win it again, yet I think it would mean LVG staying unfortunately...

Just caught a bit of an the official post match press conference. He talked about wanting to win "a title" when he came here, and that the FA cup was a "big title in England".
Ended talking about negative press and seemed pretty wound up. Avoided questions about next season by talking of the importance of the cup final. He'll be gone by this time next week. |

An FA cup doesn't make up for that should we win it. |

Sadly it seems that José might be the one to fill his seat, I guess those of us against him might have to get used to it. |

So do Man United enter the Europa League group stages or do they have to qualify
If we win the Cup, that takes precedence so we still go into the group stages but Saints get our league group stages place, and West Ham get Saints' 3rd. qualifiers place. We are going to have a lot of extra TV supporters on Saturday!

The LVG statement about the fans expectations being too high and injuries before Xmas are simply excuses for our failings this year and an attempt to keep himself in a job. I think that he truly believes what he has said but we are Manchester United and we should be competing for every trophy. Our finishing position of 5th probably flatters us a bit this season because there have been more bad performances than good. Our squad has been too light from the start of the season and we didn't strengthen in January. The league is undoubtedly more competitive and we have no God given right to be winning anything but we should be challenging. LVG is fortunate that the young players he has promoted to the Senior squad have done a job for us, and credit too them. I think the board will have already made their decision on the managers future, no matter what the cup final result. We need to to inject new blood throughout the club so that the fans can start believing again.

I recall that Chelsea sacked Di Matteo after he won the Champions League! The F A Cup is a minor trophy by comparison so there is a sort of precedent for LVG to go with or without a trophy.
Regardless I don't even fancy our chances much in the EL next season unless we discover the secret of scoring goals. If DDG goes home (and frankly I would not blame him) it could be even worse! At least LVG went out without an umbrella last night.........

LVG lowered his target some time ago by saying that he'd won a trophy in every Country he'd managed in... while talking about the FA Cup. So if we win on Saturday, he would be able to leave with relative grace, his 'trophy' record intact.
I think the stay or go decision would have been made some time ago, and if he goes United would I am sure issue a "thanks for what you've done to start the rebuilding and for the trophy, but we now have to plan longer term, end uncertainty, and make the change" statement. If we fail to win the cup, things will become a bit more messy though, whether he stays or goes. |

I noticed last night he never mentioned he'll be leading next season or the "we" word on the pitch last night.
I want it to work out for him but his defensive approach would be great if we attacked and score 2 or 3 a game. Its being said that why would a player sign for club knowing that the manger is leaving 9 months later! |

Next year he has four trphies to have a go at to complete his record if necessary. Pity about the players though. Maybe just another £250 or so might get us a fourth place in the PL.

£250, do you think it will be that cheap to get us forth place next season?!

Easy to make mistakes, isn't it? ![]() Still if it were as cheap as £250, then we definitely should be in the top four next season!

The coffee machine on the team bus cost more than that, according to the news.

So what seemed a nightmare scenario a few weeks ago, of City winning the Champions League, and Liverpool the Europa League, has emphatically not come to pass, I for one am glad of that!
