So what seemed a nightmare scenario a few weeks ago, of City winning the Champions League, and Liverpool the Europa League, has emphatically not come to pass, I for one am glad of that!
True, but it's highly annoying that it makes no difference to what we'll be up to, next year.

True, but it makes me for one feel a whole lot better!

Not really that annoying, I am just delighted that the BT crew sound so very depressed, that will do for me!

Agreed Steve McManaman especially loved how he was harping on about how Jurgen Klopp had the easiest team talk ever and he wanted the same as before and he couldn't see Sevilla scored and within a minute of the second half it was 1-1, brilliant.

Each to their own, but I'm far more concerned with our own failings, than Liverpool's.

Don't get me wrong, I'm delighted that they lost tonight, but it doesn't change anything for us.

Yes, the bias was unbelievable really, you would think Sevilla were some pub team, not the best team in this competition's history!

We might not have had a good season, but I will still enjoy nights like this!

Meh, let's leave our failings for tomorrow, or after the Cup final, and just enjoy seeing Sevilla lift what is fast becoming their own trophy!

That and possible tears in McManaman's eyes!

Yeah, I could take your advice, or I could have my own mind.

I'll go with the latter, thanks.

Fair enough, I will enjoy this match, and worry about our future tomorrow, and the days after that!

Thank God not many of the United fans on here are as openly shallow and classless as you. Oh, and clean up that mess...

Hey, I bet you were happy when we lost in two Champions League finals to Barcelona!

We have a rivaly between clubs, so is it really that bad, that I am relived that Liverpool didn't win tonight?

What part of the words "openly" and "shallow" don't you understand? Whatever I think when United lose is not worth posting online as it adds nothing to a discussion generally.

Carry on though, if you truly believe it enhances your reputation somehow.

I understand both of those words, but thanks for the heads up on them.

My reputation is already ruined according to some (or most depending on who you ask I guess), so I might as well be honest and open, "honesty is the best policy" after all!

Besides it is only a bit of harmless fun between rival club fans, I am sure if we get beat by Palace, there will be plenty of Liverpool fans happy that we did!

If you lose to Crystal Palace there'll be Liverpool fans fine with it, maybe happy, might get a little chuckle or a smirk. That's normal in a rivalry. What isn't normal is cheering or gloating, especially when it's a cup final in a competition they knocked you out of. Come the final whistle on Saturday, if you lose, you won't be seeing me doing a load of posts laughing about it and enjoying it beyond the initial satisfaction you get knowing your rivals lost.

Fair enough, and there is nothing wrong with that at all, neither should there be anything wrong in enjoying a rival clubs defeat in a major final.

There should be no right or wrong way to support a club (bar fighting and such things).

People support their own club, and show it, in many different ways, one should not be put down or condemned, if someone else doesn't like the way they do so.

There speaks a man who is unaware of the the glee with which arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham fans celebrated their rivals losing this season and someone who admits to betting against his own team if he thinks the odds are good so that it means it's not all bad if they lose... A football follower yes. But definintely not a passionate Liverpool fan. His views on United and Liverpool could easily be in the neutrals thread.

Cheering and gloating is normal. Your mates will stick up for you on here but thats just because they like you, they don't respect you as a Liverpool fan

I am aware, actually. I haven't denied Batdude his enjoyment, neither have I disagreed with Arsenal fans enjoying Spurs' failure. I said it's fine with enjoying your rivals failing. It's the over-the-top gloating when you're in no position to gloat. I posted on a YouTube video on this very subject when an Arsenal fan was trying to justify Arsenal fans laughing at Spurs. That they're under no illusions that it's been a good season, just that they found it funny to see them fail in the way that they did, to find some small enjoyment out of what has been a poor season. And that's fine. Enjoy it when a rival fails, it's just going over the top with it when your team hasn't put you in a position to gloat so much.

Don't you dare say I'm not a passionate Liverpool fan because I don't fit in whatever your criteria is. There are Man United fans who have admitted to making money from their own team losing. That doesn't make you a bad fan. I have never said it's not all bad if Liverpool lose, if it results in me winning money from a bet. I'd never want to win a bet at the expense of Liverpool.

You're right, my views on Man United and Liverpool can and have gone in the neutral thread when it's relevant. My view on this could go in the neutral thread but it's not because I'm replying to a post that isn't in the neutral thread.

I don't have to justify myself to you.

I don't need my "mates" to stick up for me. If they don't respect me as a Liverpool fan then their views on me don't matter. You don't speak for the other forum members, you don't speak for Liverpool fans, either.

You seem to have a problem with me, I don't know what it is but it's been obvious for a while with you giving me snide digs now and then, even going as far as to do it when I was talking about Hillsborough, in the Liverpool thread, of all things, and for that alone your opinion of me means nothing.

Yeah but did any of us want to see Liverpool lift a trophy and qualify for next season's CL?

It also means we won't be having wall to wall Liverpool updates on Sky news and God forbid Look North West News which would have been hell for some of us that live in this part of the world.

Phew!

No, of course not. I've already said that I'm delighted that they lost.

It just feels a bit hollow 'celebrating' it, when we've had such a relatively abject season ourselves. That's just how I feel though, so if people want to make a big deal of it, that's up to them.

So could today be LvG's final pre match press conference with us?

Hopefully so, but at times these have been the most exciting part of his managerial career with us, so I wonder if he will go out in style with this one?!

I'm never a fan of taking the pee out of another club's loss when you've got a big game yourself on the horizon. People in glass castles and all that.

I don't doubt there will be some glee amongst rival fans if we lose the cup final.

It won't stop me enjoying it when our rivals cock it up though.
