Official announcement expected on Monday. Dan Rowan and Simon Stone are adamant that it's happening. LVG refuses to discuss it at his press conference.

The leaks though, if true, on the day of our Cup win, are an absolute disgrace. I'm livid.

So it's now being suggest that LVG will "retire" to make way for Jose, though of course he probably been asked to do so.

On a more comical note, did anyone else notice the lid of the cup go flying goodness knows where after Rooney and Carrick lifted the cup? I haven't seen a picture with it since we lifted it. Could be a bit of hefty repair bill coming the clubs way...
I saw that too!

And in the press conference - the cup was still sans lid!!!

I saw it on the stand when they were letting off champagne, but other then that, not since!

Bit of a crass way to go about things if this José story is true.

Leaking it on the day, or just mere moments after we have win a trophy, surely there could have been a better way to go about the changing of managers??

Nice that we are on the same page with regards to the leaking of this José news.

Meh, nobody seemed bothered when the same thing happened to Moyes. And that was leaked from the club, as opposed to this which appears to have come from Mendes.

Difference is the Moyes situation was not done directly after we had won a trophy.

People need to grow up.

Van Gaal would have known what was coming. I doubt that he's massively bothered, to be honest.

For all of the stick that the board take from some of our 'supporters', they seem to act bloody swiftly, when the Champions League is out of reach.

I wasn't criticising United, but whoever leaked it, because it's become the main story on a day that our Cup win and LVG's success in that should be the main story. Annoying but not necessarily United's fault, and I'm really pleased that LVG keeps his "trophy in every Country" record.

Great result by the way! Fantastic Lingard goal, good work by Fellaini and Martial in hitting the woodwork and wow, what a run by Rooney!

Don't know what people are talking about man utd handled this brilliantly. Keeping it under wraps until after the game so add not to spoil preparations was an achievement and now there is the double whammy of a cup win and a new manager. Van Gaal won't care, he got his trophy and leaves as a winner. Couldn't have been done better in all truth.

Its ruthless.

The level of ruthlessness we should have executed in December instead of being nicey nice.

It's not his birthday party. Shit happens and I doubt it's a great revelation.

Spot on.

And fair play to Van Gaal. He'll have been told, but he's been super-cool, in terms of keeping it together.

If we had done it then, we might, just might, not have missed out on Champions League football next season.

Guardiola to City hadn't been announced then, and that's what pushed LVG out and let Mourinho in IMO (assuming that it's true).

To lose the lid would be unfortunate. To lose the lid and the manager on the same day is downright careless.

I guess then, that I had better get used to the idea of José being our manager, he was not my ideal pick, but once it is confirmed, then he will get my full backing.

Yes even the nature of his celebrations today when he ran out of the team area and hugged Ryan Giggs. He looked over the moon. Would never have guessed he knew it was his last match in charge.

Although some sports journos are saying he was discussing next season after the game as if he expected to be in charge... so maybe he's not been told!

Paddy is blowing his top on Radio Five right now! He's incandescent at Dan Rowan and demanding to know his source!

Whoever has leaked it, be it Mendes or us, it does no-one any good to do it at this moment in time, at least allow LvG to enjoy the day, and the trophy win.

He will have been told, I'm sure. The man has a huge ego. All that he cares about is going out with a trophy. His pre-match comments belied that. He won, he celebrated, he can leave with his head held high.

He did half a job. I'm grateful for that. It's a half more than Moyes managed.

He was banging on about it aftwards too. Reminding everyone about what he once won.

He's incredibly vain. He believes his own hype.

He's not suddenly gone "WTF????" and stopped celebrating. He'll have known this weeks ago and will just be enjoying his night.

Oh please, just shut up.

Why don't you allow us to 'enjoy the day, and the trophy win'?

Huh, I am enjoying today, and the cup final win, it has been a great day.

I just wish that this news could have waited until tomorrow, as it has taken some of the headlines away from the cup win.

Also what did you mean by "and so it begins", in your previous post quoting me??

Jose Mourinho will make Man United great again, as players will want to play for him
