It is just annoying how it just seems to be that no-one would like the role, even for a short period time, heck Big Ron does quite a few games for MUTV, so I wouldn't be opposed to asking him, that is how desperate things are right now!

Surely there is someone that would do the job, even if it is only for 3 or four games (or less) at the club?
Is the position that bad, that no-one would want to have "Manchester United first team manager/head coach" on their C.V. even for a brief period, have Moyes and LvG made it that toxic a role??? I suggested that Joyce may not want to take the chance, if there's absolutely no chance of him getting the job full-time. He'd have nothing really to gain. Do really well? Back to the U-21's. Do really badly. Sorry, Warren. On your way. Similarly, there's not really any point in bringing somebody external in. It's not like we're looking at relegation. A couple of extra wins probably isn't going to change things significantly. Get to the end of the season, and appoint Mourinho. |

As said above, keep Van Gaal now to end of season. No,point in changing for a handful of games to a temp appointment. At end of season get rid of van Gaal and get the new man in. Dispatch this season to history

A couple of extra wins probably isn't going to change things significantly. Get to the end of the season, and appoint Mourinho. We really would be lowering the bar if he came to the club. As for LvG, his time should be up, and I just cannot fathom what reasons that there could possibly be for keeping him on past this point. We have just become a nothing club, a throwaway side, a team put together seemingly at random with no thought at all behind the team, yes I know that we have had an horrendous amount of injuries, but surely that doesn't account for Rashford playing at least part of the last match at full-back?? So much needs to change about the club and the team, we look like we are just going through the motions until the end of the season. I fully expect West Ham to beat us in the FA Cup, and for us to finish now behind them in the league, with Liverpool possibly finishing above us as well, I just don't see the players being motivated enough to really want to finish as high as possible, if fourth place is out of the question (which I think it is now sadly), then trying for fifth or sixth will not have that same motivating factor. I really do hope that I am wrong, but it sure doesn't feel to good at the moment, and I am dreading Thursday, the knowledge that they put us out of Europe (even just the Europa League), will be a very bitter and hard pill to swallow. I don't know what this summer or next season will bring, but surely, somehow, someway, it has to be better than the ones we have had recently under Moyes and LvG, or at least that is what I am clinging to. |

Oops that wasn't what I was aiming for, I was struggling to think of other options, then I just remembered seeing him on MUTV, I was not endorsing his past behaviour, make no bones about that!

I agree with the get to the end of the season bit, and the rest I suppose, but I am still not in the appoint José camp, there are surely better options out there than him!
Only Guardiola is comparable. Quote:

Unbelievable. We really haven't. We're going through a relatively lean time on the pitch, but we're still the biggest story in town. United haven't been a 'nothing club' since the 1940's.

Hi Batdude, sorry to read you've been suffering from the bad piles.
I can sympathise with you as I was a martyr to mine during the long drawn out days of the Miner's dispute in the early 80's. Obviously this is not something you would want to discuss on a public forum but if you PM me I have a few suggestions that worked for me. PS- You don't happen to play a bit of snooker do you, by any chance? You're welcome. |

Friend of mine is going at the Bournemouth game today. Lives over the road and he tweeted a picture from his seat two hours before kick off. What a loser!

The funny thing is that now, we are a mere 2 points behind West Ham, 4 points behind City and 5 behind Arsenal, all with 9 games to play and all three are catchable. But so are we, by Liverpool and Stoke.
We are also still in the FA Cup and (technically at least) in the Europa league. This season is turning into sheer torture! |

But the thing is, if we had a decent manager we'd be taking advantage, instead we just stutter from game to game looking like a team of individuals with no game plan.
For us though, it goes back to LVG and his risky small squad policy. |

True, but there's an element of player knackeredness as well I think, which should improve this month as injured players come back and regain match fitness. Some of the other teams are starting to suffer from that as well - not Leicester though, for obvious reasons. Few injuries and fewer games for them.

You can't use injuries as an excuse for our crap football. It's been an issue before Van Gaal turned up.

Smaller squad though - his philosophy. Mind you, City's bigger squad is also underperforming luckily, which gives us some hope.
We could be out of the remaining cups by next week and then have to play City away in the league for the final nail in the coffin. Of course we could win the next three, but can you realistically see it? The biggest problem is LVG, not his squad size or injuries. His subs are generally mind boggling. It's a shame, I had high hopes for him but apart from a few decent results against good teams during his time here, it's been very poor. |

A couple of extra wins probably isn't going to change things significantly. Get to the end of the season, and appoint Mourinho. We can't give up on top four but we have given ourselves a mountain to climb, rather than the great chance we would have given ourselves had we gotten rid of Van Gaal around January/February. No matter how good Mourinho is I don't believe he is good enough to turn around a club's fortunes to the extent that they win all of their remaining games, performing at a level above what the squad is actually capable of doing - which, realistically, is what we will have to do to either win the FA Cup or end up in the Champions League next season. So yes, I think he will join us in July and I wouldn't necessarily favour him joining before then. Where we disagree is that I probably would get rid of Van Gaal for the last 9 games and replace him with Giggs. Not because I think Giggs would necessarily be a massive improvement, but just as evidence of the board showing that managerial performances like LVG's aren't good enough, and giving the fans - who have still gone to OT in their huge numbers, who have still supported the team away from home brilliantly - something to cheer about for once. I don't, however, think Giggs would want to do that. So we are stuck with LVG until July. Count down the days. |

But they already have a League trophy and remain in the Champions league.

Of course we could win the next three, but can you realistically see it? And if we do scrape 4th. place, the chances are that it will be at City's expense... I would happily help to make Peps' "Welcome To Manchester" banner in that case!

Giggs might be against being an interim manager but it's Man United, if they got rid of LvG now and offered him the role he'd take it, and if not they should send him out the door with LvG.

I think GIggs should be looking elsewhere to continue his career if LVG goes at the end of the season anyway. He's unqualified to replace LVG, how long can he wait for the opportunity for it to become reality? Having said that, he may well have been told he is next in line. Hopefully not. |

If Giggs takes over after LvG, either at the end of this season or next season, then you'll probably miss out on Mourinho for good. You get the chance to sign a manager like Mourinho and you let it slip, twice, that takes some doing.
It's like he's been friendzoned by Man United. |
