Totally agree, in one sense he was a victim of the hype surrounding his precocious ability as a child. I don't know him personally enough to say if he believed that hype but he definitely lost his way and I don't think that was anything to do with Jose.
Won't say another word on the subject . Sorry guys , |

Was listening earlier to Five Live discussing the LVG/Mourinho story - one of the contributors stated (no idea where he got his facts from or whether there is a grain of truth in it) that Ed Woodward was keen for LVG to see out the last year of his contract but that the Glazers were the driving force behind making a change.

Enough about Joe Cole already, we get it.
My only worry with Jose is the youth players. Martial looks like he will be absolutely world-class, and Rashford needs carefully protected and moulded to see where his true potential lies. Lingard is already 23 so hardly a youth-teamer - I think he should remain a serviceable member of the squad but I wouldn't say he is irreplaceable. It will be interesting to see if Jose can get more out of Depay than LVG did, or if Memphis is just out of his depth at this level. |

Jose made him run up and down the left wing endlessly . Tackling back was never his game so of course Jose had a hand in stunting Cole's growth as a creative player .
Won't say another word on the subject . Sorry guys , When joe Cole was given a free role at West Ham they ended up relegated as they had this mentality that flair players shouldn't have to work har d either, the problem is his attacking contributions were not good enough to offset him being a non defensive player in the way you let to also and messi get away with it. He's always been highlights reel player who was good but never destined to be great. If working hard ran him into the ground causing his injuries why did it not affect lampard who never missed a game and worked much harder. |

I think rashford will drop to the bench mostly next year which is fine as he will still get plenty of time, I would rather we had the finished article leading the line next year anyway as of all rashfords current ability and potentially he is still very raw and needs to improve. I also the Mensa and Lingard will get time under him, Lingard has the work ethic and athleticism that Jose like when he wants to pack a midfield and Mensa is good enough to be a top prospect anywhere. |

Joe Cole was a highlight reel player anyway. He was good but never great, just capable of great moments. He had world clas technique but not world class technical ability. He's the type of player that would spend more time practicing maradonna turns than passing and shooting.

So he ruined him by stopping him from being a liability, football changed a lot in the 00's players became the fittest the have ever been. Gazpacho and Zola would have been expected to press and track back otherwise the opposition would have targeted this and exploited you.

To be fair , comparing Joe Cole's with Lampard is like comparing Scholes with James Milner . Pointless |

The only thing that should be compared to milner is a council estate lottery winner, he doesnt know how he got so lucky when he doesnt deserve it.

Milner is a very solid, and reliable player, not one to get the pulses racing, but one that a manager can rely upon, all squads need at least o e or two of them.

Eleven PL assists and 5 goals suggests otherwise (especially for a non-attacking midfielder). Fair minded fans would look beyond the badges he's worn on his shirt over the years.

Dont care if he plays for liverpool, man city or leeds, just think hes very overrated and lucky to be where he is. He should also be no were near an england team either. |

I wasn't aware that James Milner has ever played for man united. Seems I'm wrong though. Can this thread get back to discussing man united at some point by man united fans?

Perfectly good player. Always solid and hard working, decent skill and has more than merited his place in every squad he's been a part of.

The Giggs situation will be very interesting, as really he has only ever known this club, if he is let go, then the statement put out by the club, will have to be one that is very carefully worded, as no matter what, he is a club legend, and they don't come around all that often.

I see him as their version of Park, he was not the best player, but he was very reliable for us, and scored a fair few important goals whilst he was here.

So his goals and assists were all lucky too? Given he only played 28 league games his output puts others to shame - especially if he's as "overrated" as you think he is. Ignorance at its best.

I'm sure it will once people stop making absurd statements about said player on here. It's not as though there's nothing going on at United right mow worthy of debate. Tomorrow's announcement (if true) will be intriguing in terms of how it's worded and any subsequent statement from LVG. Future of Giggs, too.

I'd be stunned if Ibrahimovic isn't in shortly after Jose.
