I hope not every time I saw him he was a liability, he's clearly a good footballer but reminds me of David Luiz in the sense that although he's a very good footballer he's a poor defender. He could yet make a top centre half but I belivie Mensa has more potential than him anyway.

As a centre half I wouldn't mind someone like Ashley williams or van Dijk who I feel are underrated plus when smalling is out we need a defender who loves actually defending.Blind is a good centre half but needs to be next to someone like Smalling who wil do the dirt work. Jones and Rojo make me nervous with their rash decisions and also injury prone nature makes them unreliable

I still have nightmares of Ashley Williams caving in and gifting Leicester an early goal in that crucial game a few weeks ago.

I'd agree , Ibrahimovic would hopefully make as big an impact as Cantana did all those years ago . 20 maybe 25 goals guaranteed plus loads of assists . Imagine how much the youngsters would learn off him as well.

It's like if you don't like Trump for being all those things you mentioned, the natural response is "Hillary's bad too". It's as if by you criticising him it means you're automatically a supporter of her, so criticising him has to be met with "but what about her?" rather than focusing on the criticism being given to him. Ibrahimovic is another Falcao, wanting to come to the Premiership,for one last huge pay day. He's hot and cold, has terrible games and then some good ones but mostly he plays for himself and not the team.
He is also 34 and unless the team was built around him would have a mammoth strop.
I would be very disappointed if we signed him - maybe take a chance on a pay as you play deal but his ego would not let him go for that.

I'm in favour of bringing in Ibra for the last reason you mentioned - I see him playing the sort of role Owen or Larsson did.

But the idea of him scoring 20-25 goals is so far off the mark. He's 34 years old and, all due to respect to our friends across the pond, Ligue One is not the Premier League. It essentially begins and ends with PSG. He has no PL experience and it remains to be seen to what extent his lethargic pace will square with the speed of the English game.

By all means, bring him in, but we shouldn't be pinning our hopes on him.

Despite this article I never got the impression that the players wern't playing for him, some head scratching re tactics possibly , unlike with Moyes where he seemed to have lost some of them.

Me neither. The players may been confused by his tactics at time but I think they respected him and never stopped trying for him. With Moyes, when it started going wrong, he just couldn't win over a dressing room that had won everything when he'd won nothing as a manager.

Multiple papers have the same story, with the same details. Some one has leaked it, and not just to one journo but like near enough all of them. It isn't pretty reading to be honest, even the glowing praise of Giggs. I do get the impression that they are doing what they have to do on the pitch rather than doing what they want, in fear of being dropped and that's all of them. No wonder they will be glad to see him gone, perhaps they'll put more of an effort in for the new manager, rather than going through the motions.

The players seem to not give a damn abiut Van Gaal as much as they didn't about Moyes. It seems to be those fans who just dislike and respect Moyes less than Van Gaal who choose to see it differently

In all the discussions on Giggs as a potential manager etc, one of my defenses is that we've never heard anything positive or negative with regards his coaching. That is till now. However, as it has been said else where, this could be the senior players just wanting a mate as a manager who'll give them a bit of an easy ride.

Something positive about José coming in, is that he is a form Europa League/UEFA Cup winning manager, so hopefully he can lead us to glory in that competition, if a top four spot is not possible, as it will be the hardest season possibly ever to get one of those top four places.

Today's Telegraph are reporting that Blackburn have made an approach for Warren Joyce, interesting news. It would be interesting to see if given the chance he'd go. He's done well though with our U21's and hasn't done to badly in his previous management role with Hull.

Not sure who would step into his shoes should he leave. Butt would have been the obvious choice, but since he's now in charge of the whole academy it may be a bit much doing both jobs.

Looks like Blackburn can spot a potentially good manager, I would be sad to see him go, as he has done tremendously well with us:-
