Get in!

Hopefully Zlatan will be the cherry on the top.

If they make us wait for a statement until the opening of the NY stock exchange tomorrow afternoon it will be utterly pathetic. Heck it's currently open and the news is out there so I don't see why they should.
As it generates even more interest and so more money pumped into the club. Itll be then when his contract will be disclosed and no doubt, if already done the Zlatan deal announced. Gives a whole day of trading and the share value will shoot up. Yes we are a football club but also a business too now, so this is kinda the middle ground.

Martial plays out wide, and Rashford is 18. It's quite feasible that Rashford could have a lean spell next year, or get injured. We can't be relying on such a young kid, in every game.

Ibrahimovic can come in for a year or two, and bridge the gap. Rashford will still get games, and Martial will almost certainly play most of the time.

It actually makes a fair bit of sense, to me.
I think he'll be a great signing. Presumably it'll be on a yearly basis, no fee but a massive salary ? You'll probably play 50+ games in all competitions and Zlatan will probably only play in half of those at 34/35 years old, so Rashford will get games. Martial doesnt play as a frontman now, so no problem there. I can't see any downside to be honest, I wish I could.

BBC claim that although negotiations are complete, the contract will be signed tomorrow.

The United PR machine is truly awful.

What's wrong with you guys?

It's an open 'secret'. We all know that it's happening.

Does it really matter when United announce it 'officially'? Cool your beans.

I cannot recall such a long drawn out thing over appointing a manager for any club

It's been less than a week.

You must have a very short memory.

It took a month to appoint Van Gaal, for starters.

What else is there to talk about? The season's finished, and the Euros are still a few weeks away.

United appointing a new manager is always huge news, and you can multiply that sevenfold, when it's Mourinho.

It was because of Mourinho's image rights from what I've read. They were still owned by Chelsea apparently, and although Inter Milan and Real Madrid were prepared to use them under license from Chelsea when he managed those clubs, Man Utd wanted to own them outright. Looks like that sticking point has been ironed out now though.

Meanwhile Ibrahimovich has said he knows where he's going next, and has known for a while, but wont say yet, the tease.

And here it is:-

Take a look at @ManUtd's Tweet: https://twitter.com/ManUtd/status/73...130151425?s=09

The official unveiling seems to be at midday today.

3 year deal, with an option for a fourth.

This is all we're getting until July, apparently:

“To become Manchester United manager is a special honour in the game,”

“It is a club known and admired throughout the world. There is a mystique and a romance about it which no other club can match.

“I have always felt an affinity with Old Trafford; it has hosted some important memories for me in my career and I have always enjoyed a rapport with the United fans.

“I’m looking forward to being their manager and enjoying their magnificent support in the coming years.”

Yep, be interesting to see the make-up of his team next, will Giggs stay on, or will Gary be brought into the fold again?

That is the next thing that needs to be sorted out.

I'm more interested in what he's going to do player-wise, than what minor roles ex-players are given.

Sky are reporting that Rui Faria will be appointed his assistant.

According to SSN, Mourinho won't be saying anything until July. He's done an interview for MUTV and that's all. Booo. I hope he's spent the last few months tapping up the players he wants.

Of course the players he brings in, and sells is more important, just that the coaches will be an indication of what sort of route he is going to go down.
Rui just follows José everywhere, so that was naturally a given.

Yeah, there is a pre-recorded interview with him going out at midday today on MUTV.

Will still be good to hear from him anyway.

Apparently the image rights thing was not right (source Telegraph) - they say that Jose bought back his rights some time ago.
Still don't want Zlatan - too much money for a punt

The Guardian mentioned an interesting shopping list, without giving any source for the list,

José Mourinho has identified André Gomes, João Mário, John Stones, Álvaro Morata, Mauro Icardi and Ezequiel Garay as summer targets for Manchester United as part of an anticipated minimum £150m spend.

Finally.

Got the man we should have got 3 years ago.

And the best possible time too.

No summer of not knowing.

No summer with a lack of preparation.

If we're lucky, Jose has already been deciding over the last 5 months what he could be doing with us.

Hear, hear!

It has overshadowed City's managerial appointment somewhat (small time but I couldn't give a crap).

Great stuff!

I agree, he should of been appointed after Fergie retired no question, why the hell we went for a average manager like Moyes when the likes of Mourinho were available i will never know. I just hope now he gets in some quality players and gets us back to were we belong, hope we get Zlatan to kick start things, i'm sure the preparations are already under way for us to get in some real quality.
