Yes we are getting the new money as well, but the incentive to sell is not there for Everton, it is not like for example the Rooney deal, where at the time, our bid was a very, very good one, and Everton financially couldn't really afford to turn it down, and felt obliged to accept it.

Everton now have a lot more money, and so if we (or anyone else for the matter), came in with say a £30-40 million bid, they would have to look very carefully at it of course (as usually a deal like this is made up of a lot of clauses and add ons), but they would not be under much financial pressure to accept it, certainly nothing like the Rooney time frame.

As for the José part, my not wanting him doesn't have much if anything to do with him possibly not signing Lukaku, however at this stage with our depleted forward line as it is (with great respect to Rashford, he has done a very good job so far, but he still has a lot of developing still to do) consisting of just Rooney and Martial, adding Lukaku would not be the worst idea in the world.
We could really do with having an experienced Premier League player to add to the mix, as we have seen, we are just one striker injury away from having to dip into a pool of players that were not expected to be used in the first team.
So if our new manager, whomever that may be, brings in a striker to help with this issue, then that would be very helpful.

I think Spain will be his next destination anyway and I wouldn't be surprised to see him gone in the summer either especially considering the agent he has.

My reasons for not wanting José are nothing to do with my feelings towards Chelsea, (his first season initially with Chelsea with Duff and Robben on the wings were very good to watch).

My feelings are that he is the most high profile short-term manager that there is, two seasons at a club and that isn't, he is done, he moves on, or he causes a meltdown in his third season, that is no way to work, knowing that your manager will leave like that.

Yes long term managers like Dario Gradi, Sir Alex, and Winger, are all just not at all realistic anymore, and we should not be aiming for anything like that, but five years is something that should be attainable, and José just has not shown that at any stage of his career.

Another point is that José just doesn't trust or want to work with young players, he had the best group of youth players in all of Europe last season at Chelsea, so does he use them, no he doesn't.
We have a very proud history of using and developing youth players at this club (the famous state going back to 1937 etc), if he comes in and does away with that, then that would be for me at least, a very troubling and sad time.
Qe should be proud of our identity, and our rich history in this area, not be willing to throw it away just to get José in charge.

Another reason for my not wanting him here, is that he always seems to makes things about him, no matter what happens on the pitch, he always seems to want to hog the headlines.
The most important part of any team should be what is going on the pitch, and what the players are doing, not what the manager is doing or what the manager has said.

Those are my initial misgivings about José, if he does come here, and if he doesn't do as I portray him here, and he does adapt to us, then that would be great, I fear however that he would not, and it would be the José show all over again.

Moyes and Van Gaal were supposed to be longterm and they were a disaster, planning for the long term DOES NOT work. ANY manager coming in who isn't successful won't last longer than 2 years so there is no point planning for longer than that because results and success will dictate, not the length of contract or a reputation for sticking around.

Mourinho might be gone in 3 years but he may not. Any other manager may be gone in 3 years as well.

I fail to see why we should rule out a manager with the record of success he has on the basis that he MAY leave after three years and should instead appoint someone with a worse record because they would be more likely to stick around.

That still doesn't matter. All the TV deal will do is inflate prices between clubs in the Premier League. Lukaku might cost £40m now, next year £40m won't mean much so you pay £80m or whatever, which will feel the same as £40m will do now. It makes no difference because it will all be relative. If Man United came in for Lukaku now he may or may not sign, if he does or does not those reasons will remain the same after the new TV deal.

A good few years now, it has just gotten worse in the past year or so.
So I really had to get it sorted out once and for all, and hopefully after the operation it will be.

The money gap (even with the backing of Philips) between a Premier League club and a Dutch club, even one like PSV is huge, so the correlation there that I think that you are trying to make doesn't work.


Allegri is doing very very well at Juventus, but there is a ceiling there, and it is part of the reason why Conte left, so I think with the right offer there, he could be attainable, although I will say that it would be very hard to do.

Allegri managed 7 clubs, longest spell 4 years

Hiring a manager you want to stick around for the long term but might have to fire after 3 years is preferable to hiring a manager who'll definitely go in 2 or 3 years regardless. At least with the former there's a chance you won't have to fire him.

It is not just the new TV deal, but their new investment from the new group that has bought into the club, so trying to sign any of the players that they consider to be their best, will be (a) very, very expensive, or (b) a non starter, as unless the player kicks up a fuss, then the incentive to sell is not there.
Even if a player kicks up a bit of a fuss, that doesn't automatically lead to a sale, look at Stones or Mane at Southampton when we were interested in him last summer.

All of this new money I agree will push prices up, but it will also make signing significant players that much harder to do.

Again, your argument still doesn't work. Nobody knows how much money they'll have to spend, and Man United will still compete because they're one of the richest sporting franchises in the world with a lot of revenue which will also increase with your best friend the new TV deal.

Lukaku seems happy at Everton so he might not leave but if he doesn't it will have nothing to do with the new TV deal or investment because you will still be ahead of them financially. All the new TV deal and investment will do is cause inflation.

Lukaku leaving Everton will be dictated to by his desire to leave Everton rather than Evertons desire or need to sell.
