Which for me backs the suggestion that he wanted the United job before he went to Chelsea. Unfortunately his audition for it after that Madrid game was ignored for some bizarre reason.

At least we got him eventually.

Zlatan is no way near another Falcao.

Falcao was coming back from a horrific and long term injury, and even though he was on the comeback trail, he was a risky deal, hence why we only got him on loan, rather than purchasing him outright (and thank God we did so), whereas Zlatan is coming off scoring more by himself, then our whole team did on the league last season, so a slight difference there!

Many thought Cantona was arrogant and look at what he brought us lol
Zlatan plays a character, like in wrestling. Apparently, he actually gets on well with team-mates (at least these days) and doesn't disrupt squads with his ego. I still have my doubts but if he has half the influence Eric did, that'll do me.

Christ, he's not signed him as well as Zlatan?!

Speaking of Ibrahimovic, he has apparently said that June 7th (tomorrow) will be the day when his future will be sorted out, so that will be when we can put to bed one way or another all of these rumours and links.

I wonder what it would have been like if we could have signed him at his peak?

Pele and Sir Bobby, and Law, with Best as well, that would have been a cracking line up!

A quick question for the people here, in their respective times with us, who would you prefer to have in goal, Schmeichel, EvdS, or De Gea?

For me personally, it getting harder and harder to decide, as De Gea is fast becoming a very high quality goalkeeper.

As good as EvdS was for us, I struggle to think of a stand out save he made for us, when you compare that with Schmeichel (Vienna, Bergkamp, Newcastle) or De Gea, Everton at home, Chelsea away (Mata free-kick), that is probably just me though!

If pushed I would say Schmeichel still is my preferred choice, although De Gea sneaks into second place with EvdS in third place now.

lol.

De Gea is a ****ing brick wall on his day, which is pretty much every match day. He is the best keeper in Utd's modern era, and one of the best keepers in the modern era altogether. Schmeichel is a great , but De Gea is another level in my opinion.

I didn't quite know what kind of phrase to use in regards to the bit that you highlighted, but yours works just as well!

Thanks for the reply, I just thought that it would be interesting to get some views outwith of my own on this particular question.

Rumours around today that Herrera might be binned.

Can't say that I'd be too gutted, provided a suitable replacement is brought in.

Seems like a lovely bloke, but hasn't really hit the required standard often enough. Might be due to not being played enough, but them's the breaks.

It would be a shame if Herrera was sold, as he has really shown a passion for this club since joining, certainly I much prefer his attitude to that of Di Maria's whilst he was here.

Half the squad will be binned if all the rumours in the press are to be believed.

Funnily enough most of them are Louis signings. Just need Schneiderlin now.

Honestly I don't think they have a clue. Mata is an obvious one but unless we're just trying to move on the one's that could get larger fees then I can't see Jose decimating the squad in the way Louis did.

I don't think that he necessarily needs to, but it'll depend on how many he wants to bring in.

If Mourinho has two midfield players that he wants to bring in, then it makes sense to get rid of a couple.

I actually agree that a major overhaul isn't required, Van Gaal did a decent job there. But, it doesn't matter what I think, it's down to the man in charge.

I think it would be a bit of an error to change too many players all at once, if José feels that a fair few of them are not up to standard, then it would be best then to gradually ease them at out and to replace them.

Changing six or seven or more players all at once, would be a bit of a nightmare scenario, as you don't really want to have that many new players adapting all at once.

Stories going round that we had put an offer in for Matic, if true then I would be very surprised indeed if Chelsea agreed to sell him to us, but then again, I was supposed before with Mata, so who knows anymore!

Pachuca have apparently confirmed that we're interested in signing Hirving Lozano, a 20 year-old winger.

No idea how much we're looking at.

Well we did well to get Hernandez from the Mexican league, so if this feller does just as well, that will do for me.

What we do know is that Mourhino likes to work with a small core set of players. So any player he doesn't rate or where he has better options in his mind, they are not going to get a look in.

Possibly but after last season's transfer trolley dash I can't see a clear out on that kind of scale.

3/4 in and same out maybe?

Even that after the previous couple of seasons is a bit too much I think, the players need some level of consistency, if they are ever going to adapt and show their best for us.

I've seen very little from Herrera to suggest he is Man United quality.

But then again, he has been playing in a very rigid system. At least with Kagawa he was playing under SAF, which gave a far better indicator of his true ability levels.

Looks like this deal for Bailly is happening. I'll be honest, I know next to nothing about him but we do need reinforcements at the back.
