Not long to go until I think it is the 7th of July when José is formally presented to the media as our manager, and then the 22nd of July when we play his first match, against Dortmund in China.

Hopefully we might have one or two possible new signings (apart from Eric) by then as well.

I do. He still scored 50 goals this season regardless of his form in the Euros.

Yeah he would provide a good foil for Martial and Rashford, they could learn aot by him being here, and hopefully he will make them into better players.

One should not base too much on an international tournament, we did that with Porborsky and we'll yeah, that didn't work out too well, oh and Cruyff jnr.

Good to see Adnan putting the work in over the summer break, hopefully he will get a fair chance during pre-season to show his talents.

I wouldn't say he has been woeful... he has been marked out of the game and playing in one of the worst Sweden teams I can remember.

But in answer to your question....no I didn't want him anyway.

With Sweden out of the European Championships, we might hear shortly about a new striker.

I was all for signing Ibrahimovic, but not a single goal at this tournament. He's looked largely uninfluential.

He flourished in the French league - but it isn't the best standard by a long shot.

Maybe, it's quite possible that he's just not up to the pace anymore and it would be a bullet dodged if we stay well clear.

It is only for a year by all accounts, so I don't see the harm in signing him, if it were for multiple years, then that might be more problematic however.

I was one of the loudest anti-Ibras on here and I argued for waiting until seeing his form at the Euro's before signing him. Funnily enough, despite him not scoring, I think he'll do a job for us. He has struggled manfully in a terrible team and would be fine with better players around him, like the ones we do have and will hopefully add to before next season. We just shouldn't be so daft as to build the team around him and only sign him for a year.

Don't think you can really judge a player on an international tournament. How many times do clubs sign players off the back of a good tournament, only for them to flop? Same would apply to those having poor tournaments I think.

As long as you don't build your team around him or expecting him to replicate RvP's season I don't think there's too much to worry about. If Mourinho sees Martial as a wide player like LvG then you probably still need a striker. Having just Zlatan and Rashford could be leaving you a little light. I mean you do have Rooney and Martial to slot in if needbe but you probably still need a striker. Especially with the Europa League, it's a taxing tournament.

Having said that, Zlatan not being great on French soil does seem a little odd. He was pretty much playing at home.

We have a fair few strikers on our books that decisions need to be made over what to do with them, Fletcher and Wilson for example, so it is not just the case of just having Ibra and Martial as our only strikers available to us.

I'd be inclined to loan Wilson and Fletcher out next season to Villa and Newcastle respectfully. Both will have big ambitions to return to the Premier League at the first attempt, both will be run like Premier League clubs, it will be a good a experience for the pair of them. Of course this is the best scenario possible, the likely hood is that Wilson will be sold as well as Keane. Fletcher will stay another year with the reserves or what ever age group it's going to be called.

As good as the notion of Ibra coming in and helping both Rashford, Martial and which ever of the young strikers stay, I just think it's to big of a gamble to take. We got burned on the Falcao loan, and that was worth taking due to his age, but Ibra as good as he has been, at his age coming into this league. We could do with someone younger, who can we can trust to score goals. Jose, does seem to find decent strikers and get them scoring, so lets hope he can do it again, we may not need to buy if he can get Memphis scoring as he did in Holland.

The loaning club doesn't decide where a player goes. The receiving club has to actually want them!

True, but if we are to loan players out, then we should try and loan them to clubs where they will get at least the possibility of a fair few games, so we should be in contact with the relevant clubs we think might be suitable.

Well yes that's obvious that you want loaned players to play. I was replying to the person who specified Newcastle and Aston Villa as destinations as if Manchester United just foist players onto clubs for their own ends.

It is perhaps what we did when Darren Ferguson was in charge of Peterborough!

Yeah I get what you mean though.

I still think that Ibrahimovic would be a decent signing, for a year or two. Going for someone younger makes less sense to me at this stage, if we expect Rashford to keep developing.

Meanwhile, The Sun reckon that Mourinho wants us to go for Aaron Ramsey. Somewhere between £35-50m.

No thanks.

Meh, Ramsey rejected us once before, don't want to go down that road again.

I KNEW you'd respond with that.

Yeah, sure, go into a season that includes the Europa League while challenging for top four with Zlatan, Rashford, Feltcher and Wilson and see how far you go.

There's a reason I said you'll only have them two and it's not because I forgot about some kids...

Sorry for sticking up for the youth, I didn't realise that was a bad thing to do.

I would actually be quite interested to see how far we could get in say the Europa League if we were to have some faith in the younger players coupled with some more experienced heads like Schweinsteiger, and Carrick behind them.

Did I say it was? No, I don't believe I did.

If you reach the end of the transfer window and that's your strikeforce would you be happy with that? Do you thunk that would get you challenging? Zlatan, Rashford, Feltcher and Wilson?
