Who needs strikers? We've got Wilson and Fletcher, after all.

Seriously, we spent all of last season moaning about our limited options up top, and that was with Rooney included. Now that Rooney appears to no longer be a realistic option, then signing two strikers wouldn't be a bad move, regardless of 'Jose's' formation.

What about Will Keane?

I think he will be off, he has not proved up to the required standard.

Assuming Zlatan is coming, I agree that we still need another striker. We don't know where Martial will play but Rashford is not the finished article, while Zlatan is a year or two away from being finished full-stop.

But if it were an either/or choice between getting another striker or a midfielder, I'd go for the midfielder. A creative one. Any of the Croats would do me fine.

Just to throw my two cents into the conversation.

Should mourinho play with 1 striker.
We would need more than Wilson and fletcher to fall back on.
Should he play with 2 strikers.
We would need more than Wilson and fletcher to fall back on.
Rashford and Ibrahimovic are going to play most games.
Martial will probably play wide or even behind 1 or 2 strikers.
Under no circumstances should we be left to rely on fletcher and Wilson.

Batdude, you said that we should give them a try and if they aren't developing as they should then we should loan them out and get someone else in......... that will be too late. Surely anyone that would be good enough to make a mark on the team would have been purchased by other clubs .

So to reiterate we should not be left with Wilson and fletcher as our bench strikers.

Remember the years of Cole, Yorke, Sherringham and ole?

That was a strike force that could compete at the top. Anyone of those players could make a difference by either starting or coming off the bench.

Wilson and fletcher probably couldn't.

The Yorkshire Evening Post, suggesting that Leeds want Fletcher, and saying he's rejected a new contract at United. That may solve a discussion or two.

Let's be honest, there's not really a discussion to be had.

We got rid of Pogba, after he rejected a new contract. I'm sure that we'll cope without Fletcher.

If I was a united fan I would fear zlatan may just see United as a pension fund top up and just go through the motions.

His euro campaign was fairly forgettable , i would have concerns a year after scheweinsteiger seemed to have the same idea

He will have a few good games, and during the spells where he does nothing, man United fans will say, well he scored that great goal agaimst arsenal 2 weeks ago or whatever.... As u say, it's a tip up to his bank balance. It's a wanna be big club signing.. Not one for man United

For 200k per week, it's madness...

Will we?

Thanks for telling us what we'll do.

Poor stuff.

On a slightly related note, United were tipped to become the World's richest football club next January when Deloittes publish their annual table. I wonder if that's been scuppered now, with the drop in value of the pound after Brexit?

Unless of course Big Ed, financial genius extraordinaire, had the foresight to set up the big loans in sterling and stash the cash reserves in US dollars... I wonder? But obviously, like all other PL clubs, our new TV deal cash won't go as far now when we start buying European players.

I don't know when Deloitte will actually compile their list but I'm hoping by the start of the season the pound will have rebounded once things have stabilised a bit and the Forex wizards have adapted to the new future. Either that or we'll be buying players from San Marino.

On a more directly related note, Zlatan has scored exactly as much as Lewandowski and assisted more despite playing one less match. I wanted to see what Ibra had at this level and I don't think he's shot just yet.

Aren't United listed on the NYSE and owned by Americans so all of our holdings will be in $$$... relative to the UK market the value of Utd will have gone up.

An egomaniac like Zlatan won't be coming here (or whichever club he ends up at) for a lark, or for the money. He aims to be an icon wherever he goes.

Totally biased opinion, but I thought Rashford was more impactful in a positive way than most of the entire England squad, particularly Sterling and the pretend "world class" GK that is Joe Hart.

Well I don't think I can be accused of bias in agreeing.

He should've been brought on much earlier. Bring a kid on with 3 minutes to go and expect him to work miracles...then make him take a corner.

Rushford showed more enterprising guile, and skill in his five minute cameo (was it even that long??!) then the rest of the whole spineless team put together.

It was yet another dismally poor performance.

Not once did England play well at the tournament.

Hopefully now a few of our players are out (De Gea, Rooney, Smalling, Rashford, etc), they can have a bit of a relax (along with the Copa America participants) before the new season starts.

I hope Mourinho was watching Rooney's 2nd half performance in midfield.

As well as Smalling through out the tournament...

I don't think I would be making many judgements based on international performance and certainly not an Englishman at a major tournament.

That's true, neither Atkinson or Clattenburg have had good games so far, not a chance or reffing the finals.

One thing that struck me about England last night, and how clearly Rooney was becoming frustrated, was how much like United they were and had been all tournament. All possession and very little creative spark, and few goal scoring chances. Had Hodgson not been in the technical area for a fair bit of the game, he could have been the English LVG.

Based on his performances for man United last season and how he wasn't particularly missed when out of the team, it will be interesting to see if mourinho drops him as a regular first team player.

Hopefully we will announce a couple of new signings shortly to at least give me a small confidence boost, after a tournament a nothing but abject misery.

Yes, this was something that I noticed as well, and the pundits didn't exactly help matters either, actively praising us for having the most if the ball in our matches, but forgetting that it is totally irrelevant, unless you know what we are doing with it.

As we watched under LvG, having the ball is one thing, having a plan with what to do with it is something else entirely.
