I'd never heard of this Favre, that Batdude mentions so I've just googled him. It appears that the sum total of his achievements is jobbing around Switzerland, getting sacked by Hertha Berlin and finishing 3rd in Germany.

In what way does that qualify him to manage Manchester United? If we're stretching it that far then we might just as well appoint Pardew, Pulis or Hughes and be done with it.

Nor had i to be honest, My first thought was what the hell does an american quarterback know about managing a football club.

If I remember correctly, I remember reading one or two articles about Favre a year or two back. He's known for promoting youth (I think his Borussia M sidehad regularly had an uncommonly young starting lineup) and playing a quick counter attacking style of football. Sounds like he'd be a good choice for the likes of Leicester if Ranieri retires next season, or possibly someone like Soton. It's absurd to link him with the United job though, especially at this particular stage.

Promoting youth is fine if they are good enough. Promoting them for the sake of it is a recipe for disaster.

I'm not Januzaj's biggest fan at all but it's bizarre how he hasn't had a sniff since he's come back given how bereft of options and style going forward. It's as if Van Gaal doesn't want anyone playing unless they're completely de-programmed of whatever it is they learnt from the previous club.

Well, thinking about it, it's another reason (if any more were needed) to be wary about employing him. Not wishing to take anything away from his achievements but you'd imagine that he must have got lucky to some extent with the bunch of talented pups he had at BM.

Too slow as a pair. Simples, unless you Van blinkered or want to play Fellaini further up front.

Of course there are options. The drunk bloke that hangs outside my local Waitrose is an option. The point is are those options demonstrably better than Mourinho and the answer is no.

I hope so, I have this slightly irrational dislike of him. I know Fellaini gets a lot of stick and he's held up as representing how poor we currently are, but for me Memphis is the better representation of our struggles. I'd be delighted to be proven wrong but I think he's likely to be another dud that we've splashed millions on.
