It's remarkable (but not surprising) how often this little fact is overlooked.

Its mental money but I only get to a handful of games a season, I don't buy the shirts and I don't subscribe to MUTV so I contribute nothing to the club really. It's not coming out of my bank account so let them get on with it.

If I had a season ticket and they were hiking the prices up massively to cover these sort of things then you can understand people baulking but they're not.

For all the criticism that is levelled at the Glazers and Woodward its because of the income that they work on creating that you are able to bid £100m for a player after having already signed 3 big names this summer.

They are doing a fantastic job behind the scenes creating the money and making it available to buy the players. Its up to Mourinho to use it wisely!

There's no conceivable way this guy is going to be a dud, and there's a very good chance he's going to be the best player in the world. That's what you're paying the money for.

Every time the tv deal goes up, transfer fee's increase, and in this case the new deal has gone up so dramatically, that fees like this for such a player should not come as a shock.

To get the best will cost a lot, and this is just a case in point.

I saw on a board earlier someone say instead of paying £120m (the figure he quoted) for one player, wouldn't you rather pay 60m each for 2 players. And someone replied United can buy 3 players for 120 if they want, they'll only pay what they want to pay. They can afford it.

Some people persist in acting as if it's their money that's being spent! I've never understood that. I personally don't give a toss how much United spend on a player because it's not my money and Man Utd deal in the multi-million football world, not the 'ordinary peasants' world that I live in!

In the same way that PL footballers live on their own planet and not in the real world. Rooney gets paid £1m a month. Some of the other players get over half a million a month. The lowest paid probably get not much less than that.
It's not the real world, it's just the way it is, so who cares what United do with their money and what they spend on players? Not me, anyway!

Another red flag about this whole deal in my opinion, is that it reminds me very much of the Di Maria signing two seasons ago. World class player, no question... but one who clearly wants to join another club. Pogba has said it publicly and his agent has too, and it seems the only reason he is considering United is because Madrid (yes Real Madrid) think the price is too much.

Doesn't mean that if we sign him he won't perform, of course not. But as a fan, it still leaves me a bit uneasy about the whole thing...

This potential transfer fee is ridiculous, it even makes the rumors about Tulisa apparently turning down potential high wages to appear on CBB sound believable.

That's a fair concern. I can't see him being as flaky as Di Maria, by any degree of the imagination, but I think that it's very reasonable to suggest that he might see it as a highly-paid stepping stone.
