For what it's worth, Mendes' pet journo Duncan Castles reckons Mourinho wants rid of Blind, Rojo, Schweinsteiger and Mata.

As much as i have soft spots for both Mata and Blind you wouldnt really be crying into your cornflakes with all 4 of them going.

No problem at all with Rojo and Schweinsteiger being moved on. Even Mata wouldn't be a huge loss.

I'd be pretty annoyed about Blind being binned, mind. I think that he's hugely underrated, albeit slow as.

Wholesale changes were necessary and mourinho is the man to do it.

The same Mourinho that you desperately want to fail?

Yep. He's the man who has spent more money than anyone in history, so he isn't scared to spend big and on many. Perfect for what Man United need right now.

He has already stated he only wants four players added to the squad one of which is a free transfer.

Correct. And the three that have already been brought in haven't exactly cost the Earth.

Pogba may cost an eye-watering sum, but if you want the best, you have to pay. I can't remember too many folks mocking Madrid for spending big on Ronaldo and Bale.

The money is a joke now in general . my point was the wholesale changes, if he sticks to just 4, even if one is one that can take control of any game if he's on form, then that's good for him and the club that he thinks he can win the big trophies with those guys.

Fees are increasing in line with income though. People are saying it's ridiculous but top clubs are incredibly wealthy.

Four players is plenty for any club in one summer.

Football manager in spending the money available to him shocker.

Yeah I know, both wages and fees are mad. Some don't have issues with it, I do. Anyway, nowt can be done about it now.

Yeah, he may wait until Xmas to assess those who he's not sure about and look to bring others in then.

Why do you have 'issues with it'?

Better it go the the players or circulate in the game than be pocketed by club owners.

It's not just footballs wages that I don't like, banking as well.. I'd rather not get into my thoughts about the economy, the distribution of income and my political views on this thread.

Probably best to not bring it up in the first place, then.

Depending on which reports you read the club have currently spent around £53 million on 3 players. A lot of money but also pocket change for a club of uniteds size and wealth currently. Even Mid table clubs could be spending that if they choose to this year.

Quite.

Strange thing to bring up on a football thread if the issues are with banking and politics.

On the strength of tonight's performance, we're being played for suckers with the price mentioned for Pogba. There are several players who are looking way better than him on the pitch.

Glazer might drop an email Mourniho to ask if he'd mind taking sissoko for £35m instead.
Stilton Cheesew

I think clubs spend £100m on the strength of more than one performance.

I think you're right. But no club has ever yet spent £100m on one player. It will be exciting for man united if they are the first one to do it.
Jim De Ville

Sissoko wouldn't cost anything like £35m.

Someone could probably get Ronaldo on a free, based upon tonight's performance.

Agreed.
For that money though, I'd like to have seen him be more then anonymous.
He's been ineffective, impotent and barely looks interested at times. If he cannot get 'up' for this final, what's he going to be like on a wet weekend in Swansea?

Yeah, I am a fan of Blind and would much rather see him at centre half than some of the other options available.
