Who would you say would be above us in terms of being favourites? Chelsea? Spurs? City?

Pogba for me solves a fair few problems that we have been lacking, so him coming here would create a potentially very good midfield.

Who else would you say would we be in the mix with??

I'd still have Chelsea and City above us.

If everything clicks, then I'd have us on a par with Arsenal, presuming that they actually do some business, at some point.

Chelsea City and United will all have undergone big changes by the start of the season, just a case of which manager and new players settle best.

I think we are already better than Arsenal, if Giroud is their best striking option (get well soon Danny) then we don't have much to fear from them.

Chelsea, City, and Spurs are the top teams for me (as well as ourselves naturally), as you can't rule out how crucial familiarity is, and Spurs have that, as they have not really changed that much of what was a very successful formula from last season.

Cue Arsenal thumping us 3-0 again, with Giroud getting a hat-trick.

By 'on a par with', I meant in terms of title-winning likelihood. It wasn't a direct comparison between the sides.

Take a look at @FabrizioRomano's Tweet: https://twitter.com/FabrizioRomano/s...097882624?s=09

Well it all depends on what goes into making a team more title winning likely than another team.

For me, I would have us (with Pogba) ahead of Arsenal, although of course they will be up there as they usually are.

Yep. Also think that if anyone complains about Woodward or says he can't do transfers in the future, they should be punched in the face. Repeatedly.

Journalist. Has ties with Di Marzio and they seem to both be saying the same thing at the moment.

Apparently Madrid tried to intervene and steal Pogba but he'd already chosen United. Only issue is who pays the fee to Raiola but doubt that will be too big a problem

Think the point was that last time you said we shouldn't fear Arsenal and slagged off some of their players, they tonked us inside 20 minutes. Most people would learn after their hubris bit them on the arse but I'm not surprised that you have learnt **** all.

So them beating us, is different how to us beating them?

I have said that they will be up there as they usually are, just that with Pogba I think that gives us the edge over them, how is that slagging them off??

I rate Sanchez very highly indeed (and would quite like him here to be honest), but overall I do think that we are a better team then they are this season, is that something wrong to say?

Eh? As before, that's got nothing to do with the point that I was making.

Ah, right. Cheers. I thought that I might be dealing with another Palmeri-type berk there, for a minute.

Sigh. The point wasn't they beat us once so they are better, it was that after you previously told me that we had nothing to fear from them, we lost. Badly. And so a tiny part of me hoped that you would maybe learn, and not claim that we had nothing to fear from them for at least a year or two, but no. You go straight back to the hubris.

And there is a big difference between 'don't have much to fear from them' and just having an edge over them. Christ.

Nah, this guy is nowhere near that level thankfully.

Found Madrid's role in this whole thing kinda funny to be honest. Last week Marca were claiming they liked Pogba but didn't think he was worth the money, then today they tried to claim that Pogba was begging to join them but they turned him down because he had a poor Euros so they could focus on signing Andre Gomes... Who was crap at the Euros and got dropped for most of the knockout rounds.

125 million bid to MAN U ??? This is INSANE . Who is Pogba's agent ? Which club will be crazy enough to agree to that price ? It seems like at the moment, it is MAN U. And some people think that I am exaggerating when I say that he is overrated and not to mention WAY WAY Overpriced .

I do wonder if, for once, they just couldn't compete, financially. Could be a turning point.

Still, at least the Madrid fans are pretty laid-back and philosophical about it...

I think all this activity shows the value of having a new manager start his job as soon as possible. I'd also say it shows that Mourinho has been planning things for months, long before he actually got the job.

Ha.

Yeah, I think they just struggled to match the transfer fee and the wages. Wouldn't expect it to change too much going forward but I think we'll be a lot more competitive when world-class players become available. Think it could also have an impact on the other English clubs as well.

Yeah, I have no doubt that he'd already planned out his signings. Although I still think he got the job months back to be honest.

'99 and '05 weren't exactly vintage years for signings, eh?

I think that the impact on the other English clubs is the main problem, for the Spanish giants.

Their hoarding of all of the TV cash in Spain, up until now, could well bite them in the arse, over the next few years.
