What do you like about him 'as a person'? Does he tell a good gag?
It's just that he's not very good. |

You can't learn anything from these games. If you could we should be seriously worried because we just lost 4-1! It's a necessary evil in the modern game, having to do our bit to promote the game in foreign climes, and not worth any kind of analysis or, imo, any attention. If you've got nothing else to do then go for it, but it's a weekday afternoon, most people are working.
friendlies been going on forever, not just about brand awareness, although big part of it for big teams i agree, they still need warm up matches nontheless. results do not matter. and i imagine anyone who watched it isnt working, cant be angry at them for that. although i am typing all this from work lol |

He seems a decent enough guy, passionate enough about playing for the shirt.
It's just that he's not very good. I'd be inclined to give most players the benefit of the doubt, considering they were playing last season for a manager with convoluted tactics and who didn't really get the best out of any of his players. Having said that, I wouldn't give a damn if he was moved on. |

I haven't really been able to form a concrete opinion of him. Perhaps it's his because he's had long periods out and he's been used in different positions, but I feel like there's something very transient about him - I've never felt like he's our player more some guy who is helping out for a bit.

Having said that, I wouldn't give a damn if he was moved on. There must be something about him, otherwise we wouldn't have bought him in the first place, and the bloke's an Argentina international. I just haven't really seen it. Perhaps if he had a decent run at centre-half, it might become more apparent, but I can't see that happening anytime soon. |

Rojo clearly enjoys himself here with us, however it is becoming clear that he is not up to the standards that we need of our centre-back options.
Yes we can excuse players for not playing at their peak levels under such a rigid manager as LvG, but can we really afford to continue with Rojo?? I would be okay with him moving on, and bringing in a replacement, as he has had a fair few games, and he just has not performed up to the required standard. |

I would be punting Smalling along with him, you'll never win the league with that standard of CB !
Mental if you're not. |

So you actually think we should punt Smalling, a guy who was easily our best defender last season and was one of the best in the entire league?
BTW, I'm not on here to have a pop @ your team, just my opinion fella !! |

So you're basing your opinion of him on one mistake in one game rather than the season and a half of good performances. Fantastic.

Maybe we could put a bid in for Pogba's team mate while we're at it?

If you take off your beer goggles you might see that Smalling is actually a good CB, one worth keeping around, rather than selling him based on the odd mistake, including one with England. Certainly not one you should be rushing to get rid of.

Assuming you mean Bonucci, we've been linked with him in a few places. Wouldn't surprise me if there's genuine interest either.
City are interested too. |

Managed to watch its and pieces of the game whilst at work. Dortmund did look a lot quicker and fitter than us but then i read its their 5th pre season game so hard to judge. Result doesnt matter a jot though, just nice to know the footie season is close once more.

Darmian is allowed to be bang average because of Van Gaal's tactics, and should be given another chance, but Rojo isn't, and should be binned. Consistent. |

City are interested too. ![]() ![]() Bonucci would be very handy indeed, although I sincerely doubt that Juve will let two crucial players go, nevermind both to the same club! ![]() Quote:

I just don't see much in Rojo, whereas I do believe that on Darmian there is still a talented player that I hope that José bring out.
I haven't seen any more in Rojo, but if you're going to give everyone the benefit of the doubt, due to 'Van Gaal's tactics', then I don't see why one should be moved on, and the other given a starting berth. |

Whereas I've not seen much in Darmian to convince me that there's much more there. He seems to be vaguely competent, at best.

I don't think or know if there is that same potential to be good enough in Rojo if I am being honest. We will see I guess if LvG's tactics were to blame for either player's loss of form, but as I say I hold out more hope for Darmian then for Rojo, but equally I would be delighted if both played well this season. |
