Nice to see Zlatan training with the rest of the squad.

Who made these promises you speak of?

This transfer hasn't been as drawn out as some others i can think of. Take a deep breath and enjoy the ride.

What would our ideal midfield be if we were to sign Pogba??

Presumably, Martial would be on the left, Mikatarayn on the right, with Pogba, Rooney and Schneiderlin in the centre?

Would that make sense or not?

Why wouldn't it make sense. You've put the five players in positions they're familiar playing in. There are of course other possible combinations and formations as you'd hope there would be at a club of this size.

To be fair most of it has been media speculation/made up stuff. I think United only entered formal talks with Juventus about the move last week. Having said that though I wouldn't be surprised if it drags on well into August, if the move happens at all.

Admittedly I was trying to fit Rooney in, as José has said that he will play as a striker, but with Ibra here now, I don't know how many games he will get in that role.

So perhaps playing just behind the striker, might be his way into the team.

Yeah, in the spot just behind Zlat seems most likely.

Yeah otherwise he might just be the world's most expensive (wages wise) sub, as I can't see him being preferred to Ibra up front.

Realistically it's unlikely that Zlat will play every minute of every game across all four competitions though. So there will be opportunities for Rooney (and Rashford) to play as the #9.

True, and I do hope that we do get to see Rashford continuing his development.

Hopefully my idea that Ibra will finish the season as the Europa League top scorer (not just for us, but in general) is not too far fetched!

Would much rather see him end as the PL top scorer!

Yes, how about a double then?!

Can't see Jose prioritising the EL, and i wouldn't be too bothered exiting the competition early.

He's already complained about the Thursday/Sunday fixtures for the EL.

I think he'll take it reasonably seriously, but if February/March comes and we're still in it and also in with a serious shot at a title challenge, then it'll be strictly 2nd-string sides being picked for the EL.

Yeah, exactly. At least it should it provide a decent opportunity to give Mata, Herrera and other expensive bench warmers some exercise.

It is the one competition that in all of our history (if we still class it as the UEFA Cup) that we have never won, do on that basis, just to complete the set, I would want us to try and win it.

Couldn't care less about that kind of thing, tbh. We could have probably won it several times if we had ever prioritised it. Don't get your hopes up that Jose will this season.

I guess at heart I am a completionist, if there is one thing outstanding or remain, I like to see it get completed.

To me, and I recognise that I might very well be out on my own here, but it just sticks out to me, that we have a glaring gap in that tournament in terms of winning it.

After his comments, I agree that it might seem far fetched to think that we could win it, but a feller can hope can't he??

I'm sure you're not alone there, plenty of people have a fondness for that cup. It wouldn't give me anywhere near as much pleasure as winning the league is all.

Oh I would love to win the league once again, I have almost forgotten what it feels like at this stage!

The league should always be our main priority, I would like to at least think the Europa League was second choice now that last season we won the FA Cup.

Maybe. The FA Cup's an easier competition to progress in though and doesn't come with the Thursday games and excessive travelling.

Yeah I agree. I can see him playing virtually two different teams for the EL and PL, with maybe only two or three players featuring in both.

So the Daily Mail (yeah i know) are reporting that Jose has told nine players that they're surplus to requirements. Those nine are as follows:

Defenders: Tim Fosu-Mensah, Paddy McNair, Tyler Blackett, Cameron Borthwick-Jackson.
Midfielders: Bastian Schweinsteiger, Andreas Pereira, Adnan Januzaj
Strikers: Will Keane, James Wilson

Find it hard to believe CBJ and TFM wouldn't get to kick around for a while yet.

Dont have an issue with most of those. Only ones id say keep are borthwick jackson and periera but it wont hurt either to be on loan and get some minutes.
