Time to look at the supposed other 'targets' or just media BS?”

It's absolutely nothing. Two fans asked him to sign a Juventus football and while he was signing they asked if he was staying at Juventus and he absentmindedly said yeah. He's also signed several United shirts recently including one with Pogba on the back just to reinforce how meaningless it is.

I'd rather trust pretty much every single journalist who are pretty united in saying that the deal is basically done and just needs Pogba to finish his holiday to have a medical and be unveiled over two random fans.

He was about 10/1 to be at Juve next season with SkyBet a few days ago. Might have been worth a fiver!

I would love your confidence.
I just think that it ought to have been done by now if it was going to - why has he even gone to America with Juve if he was going to join another club?
The length of time this has been dragging on tells me one thing (something we are not unfamiliar with at this time of year) - it is not going to happen.........

He's there on holiday isn't he? Los Angeles, Miami and Vegas.

Juve pre season was Melbourne and South China.

As Jo has said, he hasn't. He's gone on holiday to relax after the Euros, as a lot of players who were involved deep in the tournament have done including Evra etc.

If all the reports were that the hold up was because Juventus were refusing to sell or that Pogba was unsure of a move then I'd be concerned because that's happened before. But the reports from journos in different countries and with different sources pretty much concur - Pogba wants the move, has agreed the basic contract and we've agreed the deal with Juventus and Raoila with all that is left being the medical and the contract signing. I know things can and sometimes do go wrong but in all likelihood Pogba will sign for us.

Fair enough - I suppose that I'm just expressing my anxieties over it

I can understand feeling a bit anxious until it's official and obviously if something major comes out to suggest a problem with the deal we can all panic. I just think that the stuff about it dragging on is kind of OTT given that it's not like the negotiations have stalled or something. It's just Pogba getting ready for the new season.

If he was serious about joining United he would not be messing about on holiday.

Still I am not one of his fans. You can get an awful lot of midfielders with silly haircuts for a lot less than £100m nowadays.

That's rubbish I'm afraid. He finished playing at the Euros less than a month ago having played in every match after a long season, he'd need a break no matter what. To try and deduce his level of seriousness about United based on this is bizarre.

And yeah, we can get a lot of midfielders for less. But there isn't a midfielder who could offer the same things Pogba does that we could buy, people like Verrati, Modric etc. aren't available and Kante isn't the same kind of player. The rest are worse and since we have the money to get the best available then Pogba is the logical signing, no matter how dumb his haircut is.

Or the fee, of course he's a good player but Juve saw us coming. The wheels arguably only started to turn once we put a massive fee down. Is he that keen on United I'm not sure but money talks if he comes he'll probably stay for a couple of years then be off to Madrid. IMO he doesn't justify the fee at all but would improve that midfield

I don't think it's that they saw us coming and more that they didn't want to sell him and didn't need to either. He's 23, is still improving but he is already a key player for a club fighting to win the CL. He still has three years left on his contract and they don't have huge financial issues so they could easily reject a big offer and keep him for at least another year. In that situation it is going to take a huge offer just to get them to consider selling, who the club is doesn't matter.

As for Madrid, yeah that worries me slightly. Hopefully in a few years we'll be back at the top and still able to offer big enough wages to ward off Madrid. But even if he does go we'll probably get our money back and get a few years of a fantastic player.

He will sign on a 4 yr deal, probably sell to madrid 2 or 3 yrs in for 50-60 million. Probably make 20-30 million on his image sales/shirt sales etc.... so end up costing us 20-30 million over all excluding wages. If we end up winning the league in that time its worth it.

No chance in hell we'll sign someone for £100m and sell them for £50m two years later.

Hence why i said 2 or 3 years and 50 or 60 million

Plus it seems clear he really wants Madrid, its just whether they want him. The point is though that he will no doubt bugger off there at some point and the actual loss on him wont be huge in todays market. If he helps us win the league back its worth it.

But why would it be so low as £60m in two or three years time given that we value him now at £90m-£100m?

There's absolutely no chance the club would willingly make themselves look like utter ********s like that, losing £40m on a player in two or three years. Especially the profile he'll have by then having hopefully having two or three successful years here.

I know it might seem like it sometimes but I don't think we actually turn up for negotiations with a bottle of lube, a packet of condemns and a selection of outfits including French maid and naughty school girl.

Because he will have only 1 year left on his contract, want to leave and probably be a bit of a cock about it. Dont focus on the number and look at the point which is that his transfer and probable move to madrid at some point later wont actually cost us that much in todays market overall.

This hasn't been great. I thought these testimonials all end up 5-5 in last minute, at which point the referee trips a United forward and awards a penalty.

classic example of why testimonials and pre season friendlies arent normally or probably shouldnt be televised.

Aye. The commentators have spent more time in the 2nd half talking about Martinez being the new Belgium manager than anything else, which tells you a lot.

This was the most boring and uneventful match ever, hopefully the charities made some money, as the match was supremely poor.

It was a testimonial. What did you expect?

Seriously, save your pennies and go to an actual, proper match, if you want excitement.

Even then, it's not guaranteed, but at least there'll be something riding on it.
