Yeah was worried about that but everything since has been positive.
Fairly decent half. None of our players rate less than a six IMHO. It's good to see Carrick looking like a boss again, Ibra is putting in a fair shift which surprises me and even dear old Wayne left a Leciester player for dead during the half. So far so good considering this isn't even our strongest available squad, let alone the long-awaited arrival of the bestest player ever ![]() Loved the goal, Lingard has been good in pre-season and I know he isn't everyone's cup of tea, but he does pop up with goals here and there. That's something our midfield has been lacking over the past few years. |

He's looking very composed at the back so far.
Several others seem to be playing with more confidence than under LVG - namely Valencia. It's also great to have Shaw back on the left. |

I would like to see Valencia delivering the ball into the area without hesitation everytime. Good forwards will make even a percentage ball look good, if they know for sure it will come. I hate seeing him get to the 18 yard line and check back out.

Did we make any subs? I missed the beginning of the second half due to the wife.

I have no idea what Fellaini is doing in the starting line up.
Carrick and Fellaini - weren't they LVG first choice? |

Not quite sure why Fellaini is given so much playing time, I didn't rate him highly at Everton and I definitely don't rate him now.

Musa is one of my long odd picks for top prem goalscorer. He'll probably need time to adjust but he's a real livewire that would have been a good buy for us.
Time for us to make a sub or two now I think...... |

Way too much faffing about near the box, especially from Rooney.

Not great news with both Mata and Lingard injured but good result. There were times in the second half where we looked as devoid of ideas as we did under LVG, but that was to be expected I guess. Bailly was mostly assured and all round good prep. Ibra has yet another trophy already
![]() Leciester will be stretched by the CL this season but after watching that, I don't think they'll struggle as much as predicted. Edit: Lingard only bruised. |

Decent match. We weren't great in the second half, but good to see Zlat win it. That's what we've been missing up front since RVP went off the boil, someone who actually knows how to put the ball in the net!

Glad we won but we really need to trim some of the fat.

Till that back pass Fellani was having another good game, certainly better than Carrick. However, with the imminent arrival of Pogba, I can see him being Pogba's back up. Herrera did nothing after coming, so Carrick may survive once more.
As I said from the other night, Rooney and Ibra play a very similar game, though tonight they stayed out of each other's way a bit more. It's not a natural partnership, and I don't think it will last. |

Fellaini did nothing, what game were you watching? He does nothing but wander around midfield passing the ball back to defence. At least Carrick passes the damn thing forward.

yep, to
tally ineffectual partnership. they both want to drop deep and dictate play, neither have the pace to run in behind. we will struggle against high pressing teams like city, arsenal and liverpool, they will push us back and nick the ball off of zlatan and rooney. klopp and guardiola must be licking there lips if they have followed our games so far, there coaching styles are kryptonite for the way we play. |

So much negativity from one or two, anyone would think we were down in 6th. place at the end of March.
It may take a few matches but it will come together soon enough. Good to win a trophy so well done the lads, two goals and any trophy are positives compared to none of each. Oh, and hark at Mourinho defending Fellaini's misplaced pass that led to their goal, slow pitch it may have been but he'd had nearly an hour to get used to it! |
