Schweini?

I hope you have a calmer night tonight Batdude, you seemed to get yourself a bit over-excited last night with all your posts about the Poggy transfer.

Schweini is easier than writing his full surname that is all.

As for an easier night, well unless we sign another world class superstar at neigh on half past midnight, then I think it is nailed on for it to be so!

Be interesting to see what we get for Schweinsteiger if he does stay in England. Given the money bounding about wouldn't be shocked if we actually turn over a decent profit on him.

Problem with that would be that we're known to be trying to get rid of him. Unless we're able to start a bidding war or something I'd expect us to get about half what we paid.

Yeah, hopefully they will let him go to a club that he fancies if it's not a major rival... No room for sentimentality and all that, but he gave his best for a season, you don't want to keep him and it may just be arguing about a million or two

I can see us getting rid of him with the first offer that comes in, better to lose money now than continually pay him wages for doing nothing.

I'm not so sure. Given our outlay so far I think maximising whatever we can has to be on the agenda rather than a series of quick sales for whatever comes in. Could be wrong.

The reported £5m-ish that we're supposedly ready to accept for McNair would indicate that the club isn't desperate to recoup as much as possible.

McNair's no world-beater, but he's promising. In a world where James Chester goes for £8m, and Michael Keane is attracting bids of £15m-ish, then it seems like a low figure, to me.

Those players have had considerably more first team experience though, albeit in a lower division. Keane's also an important player to Burnley, whereas McNair is just an also ran at our club and highly unlikely to start any games this season. I think we're sensible to take the 5, and the extra for Love is a fine bonus.

I'm not complaining about the fee, as you say, he's not exactly a big player for us.

I was simply using it as an example of why I don't think that we'll play hardball with any of our surplus players.

I'd be surprised if we get anything like what we paid, for Schweinsteiger. I think that getting the wages off the books is more pressing than squeezing an extra couple of million out of any prospective buyer.

It seems we are using Sunderland as a way of dumping our unwanted players, as it seems Adnan is off on loan there for a season.

Can't see him going anywhere. Strikes me as the kind of player that Mourinho will think a lot of.

He seems to be in our plans (despite that mistake in the Community Shield), as a rotation option.

Yeah, been reported that Sunderland have tried for him as well but been told no. Also a bid for Januzaj apparently that we're considering, preference is to loan him rather than sell. Good call if true.

If it goes through, then Januzaj really needs to be pulling up trees, this season.

In the last-chance saloon.

Very similar to RvP, we were far more concerned there with getting his wages off of our books then any sort of transfer fee, hence why he went for such a low price.

The same I think will be done with Schweinsteiger, and others, as the main issue we have is the wages which we currently pay our players, if they are unwanted.

Sadly even I have written him off, if he goes on loan there, as looks likely, then it will just be a shop window for him.

Be interesting to see what the net receipts and payments are at the end of the window. You could be right!

Agree. I've voiced my annoyance at the Dortmund loan before but this seems perfect. A manager he knows, a club where he should play week in week out and he has to deal with the physicality of the league. If he doesn't show it this season then he probably will never be good enough.

McNair did impress at the Euro's with Northern I, so whilst he might just be an "also ran" with us, it does show that he is capable of doing well on the biggest of stages.

Hal Robson-Kanu impressed at the Euros. Performing to a decent level in a couple of games is meaningless.
