How about my question, what is your objection?
My objection is to the removing of the plaque, I think that should stay intact, where it was.

Yes we have other more memorable ways of highlighting his contribution to us, but a simple plaque shouldn't be too much of an ask to keep it where it was.

Yeah I think removing the plaque went too far. Sentiment or not, it's part of the foundations of this club.

Saw someone on reddit quoting someone on redcafe explaining it.

The term 'plaque' is not really accurate. In the director's box there are a number of seats with small name plaques on the underside. Since the leather seating went in there they had names on those seats. Some say 'Sir Alex Ferguson', 'Sir Bobby Charlton', others say 'Edwards Family', others said 'Busby Family'. The seats themselves can't be more than 10 years old, and the name plaque certainly hasn't been there for 50
Sadly, last year both of Sir Matt's children died, but before then they could give those allocated seats out to family members if they were not going themselves. Now that they've died, and the grandchildren outnumber the amount of seats in the director's box and there's nobody to allocate them fairly, so United have given the family a number of season tickets instead, as they say in the article. It's just crap sensationalist journalism from the MEN again
So yeah, no real issue here.

Sounds fair enough then, though im more concerned that grandchildren are getting free tickets frankly.

Especially considering I saw a report saying that the players can't swap shirts anymore to cut down on expenses, surely the season tickets are costing more than the shirts.

The plaques on the seats have been there for some time, probably been removed and replaced every time they've upgraded the seating in the directors box. We know this as during the clips of the events prior to the Everton game, after his death, you can see the plaque on the seat where he'd sat.

It's quite easy for them to leave the plaque on, it would do no harm leaving it there and they don't have to leave the seat empty either. The free season tickets don't bother me at all, even if they are no longer in the directors box.

For me it's just another move for the club to far, it's minor, it's petty and all they had to do was keep something small on a seat. If the club started to slight Fergie the way it has slighted Busby over the years, I'm sure the reactions of many fans would here would be different.

And at some point after, the plaque was changed to simply say 'Busby family', reflecting who was actually sitting there. No outcry then apparently. Now that all of his children have died and his grandchildren have been given normal season tickets instead meaning no member of the Busby family sit there, they have changed the plaque to reflect that. This is such a non-issue it's insane to complain about this.

How on earth are they slighting Busby? They have a whacking great statue of him front and centre at the stadium, they have a road named after him and are giving his family members free bloody tickets, something they have no actual right to now.

Ferguson has a statue and a stand named after him. If in 30 yrs they remove his name from a seat i wouldnt take it as him being slighted when 20 thousand people are sitting in a stand with his name on.

I'm reliably informed that the Busby grandchildren have barely attended since their Dad died a couple of years ago.

Still, a story's a story.

“My dad always said it was a privilege to have those box tickets,” Amanda Eustace, one of Busby’s granddaughters, told the Manchester Evening News. “We have been extremely grateful to United for what they have given us over the past years. We do still have season tickets, which is absolutely fantastic.”

Manchester United have commissioned a plaque for Sir Matt Busby's old seat at Old Trafford.

The club came under fire when it emerged that the legendary late former manager's family had been moved from the directors' box and that plaques bearing the words 'The Busby Family' had been removed from their seats.

In a move they say was not connected with the backlash and made a week ago, United have ordered a new plate, with the words 'Sir Matt Busby', which will go on the Scotsman's old vantage point at the Theatre of Dreams.

An online petition was started following a report the plaques on the seats used by Busby, and subsequently his children and grandchildren, had been removed.

The plaques have been taken off the seats but Press Association Sport understands the four plates bearing the name Busby have been given to the family at their request.

However, it is understood United will have a new plaque made for the seat which Busby sat in, similar to those which were created to mark the achievements of Sir Alex Ferguson and Sir Bobby Charlton.
Nothing to see here, move along...

Fergie has a road name after him, and a statue.... so why hasn't Busby got a stand named after him??

Plus if you know the history of the club and the politics that went on after Busby stepped down a second time as manger you'll understand what I meant. It's been well documented.

Whilst this is obviously the thing to do, I wonder why it hadn't been done before, it seems obvious to me that if you do something like that for these two footballing knights then you should also do one for Sir Matt.

Its not a bloody competition. Both managers have been honoured in huge ways.

I've been in the Director's Box (on a Stadium Tour), and 'plaque' is a bit of an exaggeration - it's simply a way of labelling the seats, and not any form of commemoration. The bloke who sits behind us at OT has got one on his seat too (presumably he's either paid extra or has had his season ticket for donkey's years) - it really is a non-story.

I wonder how many generations of the Edwards family will keep their place in the Box?!

The most apt way to commemorate Edwards is to name a unisex toilet in his honour.

Not a bad record to have, Rashford has scored on yet another debut, this time with the English Under 21 team.

About the only thing left is for him to score on his Champions League debut!

We have to get there first, but yes there is that.

Also there is still a chance for him to store on his international World Cup finals debut as well.

Rashford scored a hat-trick for the under-21's tonight and the second goal was a bit special.
