My objection is to the removing of the plaque, I think that should stay intact, where it was.

Yes we have other more memorable ways of highlighting his contribution to us, but a simple plaque shouldn't be too much of an ask to keep it where it was.

Especially considering I saw a report saying that the players can't swap shirts anymore to cut down on expenses, surely the season tickets are costing more than the shirts.

The plaques on the seats have been there for some time, probably been removed and replaced every time they've upgraded the seating in the directors box. We know this as during the clips of the events prior to the Everton game, after his death, you can see the plaque on the seat where he'd sat.

It's quite easy for them to leave the plaque on, it would do no harm leaving it there and they don't have to leave the seat empty either. The free season tickets don't bother me at all, even if they are no longer in the directors box.

For me it's just another move for the club to far, it's minor, it's petty and all they had to do was keep something small on a seat. If the club started to slight Fergie the way it has slighted Busby over the years, I'm sure the reactions of many fans would here would be different.

And at some point after, the plaque was changed to simply say 'Busby family', reflecting who was actually sitting there. No outcry then apparently. Now that all of his children have died and his grandchildren have been given normal season tickets instead meaning no member of the Busby family sit there, they have changed the plaque to reflect that. This is such a non-issue it's insane to complain about this.

How on earth are they slighting Busby? They have a whacking great statue of him front and centre at the stadium, they have a road named after him and are giving his family members free bloody tickets, something they have no actual right to now.

Ferguson has a statue and a stand named after him. If in 30 yrs they remove his name from a seat i wouldnt take it as him being slighted when 20 thousand people are sitting in a stand with his name on.

I'm reliably informed that the Busby grandchildren have barely attended since their Dad died a couple of years ago.

Plus if you know the history of the club and the politics that went on after Busby stepped down a second time as manger you'll understand what I meant. It's been well documented.

Whilst this is obviously the thing to do, I wonder why it hadn't been done before, it seems obvious to me that if you do something like that for these two footballing knights then you should also do one for Sir Matt.

I've been in the Director's Box (on a Stadium Tour), and 'plaque' is a bit of an exaggeration - it's simply a way of labelling the seats, and not any form of commemoration. The bloke who sits behind us at OT has got one on his seat too (presumably he's either paid extra or has had his season ticket for donkey's years) - it really is a non-story.

I wonder how many generations of the Edwards family will keep their place in the Box?!
