Despite what people will say, this was not a "must-win" match. But the next one is!

We have been very poor and deserve this
However, the refereeing and linesmen decisions have been very one sided. Depay is wrestled to the ground, they get a free kick. Howard Webb could not decide after several replays on the Martial foul/slip that led to their first. Free kicks all over the place and only United players getting booked.

The decisions have not cost us the game but it is very frustrating.

Interesting to see how Mourinho will deal with this. He starts publicly blaming the players and his days here are numbered, just like at Chelsea. He needs to sort this out and quick, which might mean dropping a few players.

Confidence-wise, it was a must-win. The next match is too but will be that much harder to win as the opposition will be more confident and we less so. It's a double-edged sword..

Early days but frankly, can anyone see us winning the title now? Top four yes but actually win it? Not me, not realistically. Incidentally, after 5 matches we are one point worse off and three places lower than under LVG last season. Mourinho clearly hasn't yet got the balance of the team right and the players of all clubs must know it, which in turn feeds back into the confidence thing.

That's the thing though, from a points perspective it wasn't must-win, but from a moral perspective it was. We lost to City after being destroyed in the first half and making loads of mistakes and we lost to Feyenoord, a team we should have beaten 2-0 at least. It was a must-win because losing three on the trot when two should have been easy victories is hugely demoralising.

Shockingly bad, it is painful watching United at the moment, we are terrible at the moment, not one player is playing anywhere near the required standard. Rooney is awful, he needs dropping ASAP as does Fellaini at the moment they should be know where near the first team squad. I'm not buying it is because of the Europa League we have a big enough squad to cope with it. Possession was poor, the tactics seem all wrong and Mourinho doesn't know his best team. We are a shambles at the moment. Really pissed off with United at the moment.

There will be individuals who posters will moan about, as they are the latest scapegoats, however, since the game against Southampton, apart from De Gea, who else can it be said has played consistently well?? There can be arguments against every single player that they are not performing well enough, and that they could/should be dropped.

I'm starting to worry that buying Pogba wasn't for the benefit of the team, and more a cock waving exercise to somehow prove we are still relevant.

I see it as certain individuals bring down the team and if they were out the team as a whole would play better. I think Ibra and Rashford should be our front two with Pogba being given freedom behind, instead of Rooney.

Pogba didn't suddenly become a bad player overnight. I firmly believe he will prove himself worth the money.

But playing in a holding midfield role alongside mop-man? That wasn't what we signed him for in my mind.

I know all of us United fans must sound like a broken record these days but Rooney does have a negative effect on the team. He has lost his touch, lost his pace, lost his finish. The formation is constantly being tinkered to fit him into it. Why can't once we just experiment with the idea of Pogba, Miki or Mata in the "hole" instead? Is the 4-4-2 formation, or any variation on it, so dead in the water that we can't entertain the idea of playing Ibra and Rashford upfront together?

For all the transfer business we did this summer (and I do think we signed good players), it remains a mystery why we don't have an actual winger of quality.

I think they had one as well, and hardly any of them were really bad shows in that respect.

Whilst I agree with the idea of Ibra and Rashford up front, I still think you could argue on recent performances that they could be replaced. Rashford apart from the goal today was poor, his first touch wasn't with him, he wasn't beating his man etc, he looked poor for most of the game, and after Thursday as well. Ibra, he's scored goals, but that's it, we know he's a great player, but to often he's been ineffective.

There is no fluidity to our attacks, nor no creativity in the middle of the park. That's the most worrying aspect for me, I've written the bit above as a response, rather than what I think should happen. It's a case of arguments can be made for them. The midfield has been our problem area now for some time, Pogba's come back and it's a start, but the squad in general is poor in that area. We've tried to plug holes, but all we've done for years is plaster over them rather than really repairing/rebuilding it.

Another example of why Rooney is a terrible captain. Keane would have beat the negativity out of anyone who dared to behave that way around the squad. Rooney needs to set an example.

Tell me who then should be captain, who would beat it out of them in this current squad? He's the best of a bad bunch in that respect. Rooney has it in some respects as he's been here the longest, we haven't a natural leader like Keane was in the squad.

It should be De Gea. The only player whose performances have never slipped. Arguably the best goalkeeper in the world. Didn't get his big money transfer to Madrid - did he sulk about it? Did he hell. He signed a contract extension and played better than ever before. He is fully behind the team.

The only issue with De Gea of course is that he probably won't be here for the long-haul - I still think we will see him at Madrid in the next 2-3 years - but by then we'll have someone else ready to step into the role.

NB: Not suggesting De Gea is like a Roy Keane - by all accounts he isn't that sort of figure, and as you say, we don't have one of those in our squad - but his sheer talent commands confidence. How can you be inspired by your captain given Rooney's insipid performances?

If Schwiny has been banished from the first team squad, I'm not sure why Carrick hasn't either. Both did the same job last year, both were as effective as each other, Carrick's last good season was the last under Fergie. Carrick isn't the answer to our problems, we've seen people talking about how slow we are, but we'd be even slower with Carrick. He's been a good servant and was an excellent player, but that was then and if people want Rooney to go as he's old and past his best the same has to apply to Carrick.

At least Carrick can play in midfield.
I'm not suggesting that he is the answer but with the current midfield line up, he could not actually be any worse.
