Last night was well worth watching if only for Rashford's bar-juddering volley in the first half!

Best shot of the match by far, inches from crossing the line, but not included in the often misleading 'shots on target' statistics. What a 'find' the lad's turning out to be!

Yeah, that's great and everything, but nothing to do with my post.
Give it a rest,

Great contribution. Care to offer anything regarding United? That's the point of the thread, after all, isn't it? All that you seem to do in this thread is snipe at other posters.

If someone is going to quote me, and then not respond to the point being made, I'm perfectly entitled to point that out.

Who?

Is that one of 'The Hardy Boys'? 'Oooooh....I'm definitely getting a clue.'

Zlatan

Lingard/Martial Mata Pogba Herrera Rashford

Blind Smalling Baiily Valencia

De Gea

Hopefully with Miki on the bench
Martial to get the nod if he can improve his form.
Apart from the shameful fawnication in the commentary last night the other most notable event to me was how well Martial played in his brief cameo. He was chasing, running and up for it, just like he was in his heyday I'd definitely like him to start 2mmrw. He looked raring to go.

"He looks a find and good enough to be the best
But he's only sodding eighteen and will need a rest"

I've never seen the lad look tired but he's bound to slow down at some point...

According to a headline in today's Mirror "Jose Mourinho is to give Sir Alex Ferguson a bigger say under his reign."

I'm not sure why he, or anyone, would think this is a good idea tbh.

I agree with this, i'm probably Sir Alex Ferguson's biggest fan, still wish he was in charge to be honest but his time has been and gone, if he wanted a bigger say in how United are being run then he should never of retired. Sir Alex if given a bigger role would only be in the way something he said he would never do, what would happen if Sir Alex disagreed with Jose decisions, he wouldn't be able to keep his mouth shut surely that would confuse the players and cause a disruption, it will just cause more and more problems, one's we don't need to be honest. Sir Alex often said the most important person at any football club is the manager and that is Jose Mourinho now not Sir Alex Ferguson, so let him get on with his job. United don't need another Sir Matt Busby situation.

The article is referring to Sir Alex getting more influence in the football board, even perhaps on the Glazer-dominated main board. It's about how the entire club is run, not about how the teams are selected or even transfer policy. I doubt that the players would notice any difference or see any more of him than now.

Completely different from the Matt Busby situation or even how it would have been had this happened immediately on SAF's retirement. Makes sense to me to use SAF's experience and contacts at the highest level, he knows and is respected by a lot of people at the top and that can help to get things done.

From Mourinho's perspective, nothing would change IMO, even if we assume that it's not just paper talk.

If it means Sir Alex doing what they have done so well at say Bayern for so many years (having club legends on the main board), then I would be all for this.

Looking at the results so far, if we can finish the gameweek in fourth, then I will be happy with that, as that would mean at least Spurs would have hopefully brought the hype around Pep to a stop.

I hadn't read the mirror article so assumed Fergie wanted to be involved with the running of the team again, which i would be against but Fergie in the board room is totally different, i think we could use his experience, he would have knowledge of football that most on the board wouldn't have so it would be a great move in my opinion. Serves me right for not reading the article i suppose.

RIP David Herd scorer of 2 goals in our 1963 win over Leicester in the FA Cup Final and played a major role in the success we had in the 1960's under Sir Matt Busby, he was a bit before my time but it is always sad when one of our former players pass on. RIP.

The odd sloppy pass aside, we have been a joy to watch this half. Surely we have to convert one of these chances soon....

Well said Fergie. Bit before my time too but for what it's worth, my dear old pa said he thought David Herd was way underrated and had the hardest shot at OT outside of Sir Bobby. Imagine what we would give for a 20-goal-a-season second string striker nowadays... Nice touch and a warming coincidence that both teams have cause to wear black armbands today.

If Rooney isn't starting matches like this, what matches is he going to start? He should leave next transfer window imo.

A decent first half, need to convert the chances we are making, Rashford has been very sloppy though, he needs to improve a bit this second half.

Welcome back Antony Martial. No doubt Robbie Savage would give that as an assist to Rooney as well

Well in fairness he did intentionally pass it to Martial, so he deserves this one.
