I think that's incredibly harsh.

I read it as a player who's desperate to play, and he even says that he'll 'fight for his place'. I'd see him as having a 'crappy attitude' if he was seemingly happy to sit on the bench, and pick up his money.
We don't know what he is like personally, so I am in agreement with you here, I think it is incredibly harsh to be having a go at him, without knowing the full facts of the situation.

He seems like a very talented young player, who just wishes to play more, unfortunately for him, we have a fair few players in his more favoured position, which means that when he does get a chance, he really will have to shine, if he wants to get more of them.
It really is a cut throat industry at times, and this is just showing itself right here.

Perhaps I should have said 'wrong-headed' or 'self-defeating'. Because I think he will continue to fail, until he learns to accept what he apparently dismisses; to succeed, he must first learn to be an effective supporting player. Whatever else is in his head (stardom? His next Ferrari?) is getting in the way....

Harsh but fair comment. Immaturity off the field always has an effect on it too.

He is still a somewhat young player, who has had riches put onto him, and not all players handle it the same mature way, if it has taken him a while to work it out, and if he has now seen the error of any past mistakes, then hopefully this will show, if or when he gets a longer chance on the pitch then he has so far.

Whilst I accept that his mental state may be prohibitive to good form, I'd wager that it is far more to do with confidence than Ferraris, or 'stardom'. Very few players are happy to accept a role as a 'supporting' player, especially when they've previously had the impact that he did, prior to joining United.

I don't see it as him complaining, just expressing his frustration at his own inability to break into the side on a regular basis.

He's mature enough to fully accept that he wasn't good enough, last season. Nowhere in those quotes is he seeking to blame anyone but himself, for his current lack of action.

I quite like him, and believe that there is a player of a high enough level, for him to be worth keeping and persisting with.

Hopefully when he does get a chance to show his ability, that he will put in a good enough performance, so that he can get a sustained run in the side, as someone with pace, skill, and finishing prowess will always be someone who can offer something to the side.

This. In fact IMO the quotes are so positive it's amazing. They suggest that things are changing for the better at United and Memphis wants to be a big part of those changes.

Hopefully so, we could do with a change of atmosphere in the dressing room after what appeared to dundee like a negative one under Moyes and LvG.

Wouldn't it have been easier to start a thread about kits, rather than asking in each individual club thread?

Best: '85, '13
Worst: '99 CL kit, '10.

The '99 'league' kit was decent, but the Champions League kit was awful.

2010/11, I think. The one with the big, flappy, white collar.

I like the 99 kit with the diamond pattern down the sleeves.
Newton Heath one
Black one from the season of Cantona's Kung fu kick.
The wacky blue one from the early 90's that looked like something you'd wear at a rave. Those were all great.

The utterly vile grey number and that strange tartan one from recently as my hated choices.

The humongous Chevrolet spoils our current kit whereas the Sharp one's always looked great.

Yes, it was a good season all-round. Still think that the kit was dire, mind.

I'm aware that I'm firmly in the minority, but I loved that kit.

Best kit for me was the Munich special edition one, even if we lost the match to City (damn you Adebayor!!).

Another great home kit was the one in which we beat Everton in the Cup final thanks to big Norm!

In terms of more recent ones, then most of the Sharp ones, I think were fine, as their logo wasn't really all that intrusive, when compared to later ones, like our current one, and the one previous to it.

I am in full agreement about sponsors logos being far too big these days, I yearn for a more simplistic logo, and one that doesn't cover most of the front of the jersey.

Chevrolet pay the money, they fully deserve the prominence of their logo.

As for 'yearning' for a 'more simplistic logo', brands aren't going to change their identity for a football shirt.

Of course I understand all of that, it doesn't mean however that I like their particular logo, or think it looks good on our shirt.

For me, the best style of shirts were the ones where the logos did not cover as much of the shirt as the past two have done.

My favourites in are in bold, but I do like the others deserve honourable mentions

Like
Home kits
70's Admiral kits
85 Adidas
99 Umbro
08 Nike

Away kits
58 cup final
70's Admiral with stripes on them
92 Umbro Newton Heath kit
02 Nike (black kit as worn by us at Highbury the night Keano got angry)

Worse
Home Kits
96 Umbro, the one with the patterned sleeves and badge in the middle of the shirt
00 Umbro, first with Vodafone on it
02 Nike, with the black side panel (vodafone sponsor)
04 Nike, white slash across the collar (last vodafone shirt)
10 Nike, chevron kit, understood the concept, but it just didn't work

Away kits
70's Yellow and blue kits, just not United
95 Umbro grey kit
96 Umbro, white just as ugly as the home shirt.
05 Nike, blue kit with vodafone on it.
10 Nike Chevron kits

(nothing against vodafone, just most of the kits with them on were ugly).

The two pages for extensive info on United kits that I looked back on from those I remember seeing and those I haven't..

It is hard to disagree with the list there, as they reflect my views as well.

I wonder which goalkeeper jerseys are people's favourites, or not so favourites?
For me, the one that Schmeichel wore with the green sleeves, despite being my second ever football shirt, was one of my worst looking ones, whereas I quite liked the 2008 one that we won the Champions League in.

Look back at our kits. There were quite a few where the Sharp and Vodafone logos were more prominent than on the current kit.

I think that some people see it as bigger than it is, due to it being gold, rather than just plain white.

I am just not a fan of that giant "+", it just looks really bad I think (yes I understand the monetary side of things, but we are talking about purely how a kit looks).

Some of the earlier kits for me, just look better with less advertising, or smaller logos.

The 96 kit in which Becks scored from the half way line, is one that I liked visually.
