I'm going to go cry in a corner and bemoan our lack of fight. And wonder if the manager will actually start playing players on form and actually in their rightful positions.

Wednesday could be an absolute reaming if we play like this.

We may need to win the Europa League to get into next season's Champions League, as getting into the top four is looking like a big ask at this stage.

No chance of Man United winning the Europa League, they're not good enough and I don't think the manager or players will have their hearts in it.

Pogba is a great player but Man Utd won't see the best of him until he is supported correctly in midfield. He needs someone sitting like a Kante and someone going box to box like a Vidal or Marchisio did at Juventus even Herrera isn't quite adequite for that they really need a Modric, Kroos, Vidal, Rakitic, Koke type if they want to win Leagues and Champions Leagues. Two mobile players so that he is never in fear of having to track back and can play more on the counter or float around the box.

Man Utd are currently half a team. Neither their defence, midfield or attack are balanced and strong enough, Centre-back, holding midfielder and wide player for the right are required. Van Dijk and Mahrez would sort the centre-back and wide right situation, defensive midfielders are in limited numbers now, especially good ones. I watch a lot of football and can only think of Busquets, Kante and the one from Atletico Madrid who are strong defensive midfielders and all 3 are unlikely to be available.

Fellaini starting any matches for us should be considered a criminal offense.

Never mind City on Wednesday, Burnley next weekend will be fancying their chances of getting something now. It's all very depressing, if even Mourinho can't turn our fortunes around I don't know where we go from here.

One thing is for sure, the answer is not to start thinking about trying coax Sir Alex out of retirement, or to start a campaign for Giggs to get the job (I am not saying you would, I am just talking in general).

Time is a crucial factor here, lets see where we are come the end of the January transfer window, then we can see if we can really mount any sort of challenge for the top four places, but currently it doesn't look too healthy.

I am not a fan but he was far from the worst player on the pitch today. Pogba was anonymous and Smalling/Blind were appalling.

I am not a fan either but Fellaini has no place on a football pitch, he cant play football.

To those slagging off Rooney, I hope to see you doing the same to Ibrahimovic (a guy who has done nothing for the club and playing like garbage) especially if this continues. We should have never brought the guy and made him one of our main men anyway. He's past it.

I don't agree that he's past it. His touch is still there and his work rate is about all you can ask of a 35 year old in the prem. But I do think it's worth Mourinho experimenting with a front three of Rashford, Lingard and Martial. Martial probably best to start in the middle but the beauty is, all three can rotate, whereas any front three with Ibra or Rooney is limited.

Ibrahimovic is a good player though being incorrectly used, not a player performing poorly just because he's been very poor like Rooney.

If Ibrahimovic had a Giggs on the left and a Mata or Mkhitaryan in behind linking with him and getting beyond him and Man Utd were attacking teams he'd be doing fine.

The lack of service from out wide, the lack of an attacking midfieder to link with and the team playing fairly defensively are all down to the manager.

Whats he wanting, Ibrahimovic to come deep and link with midfield or use his pace to run the channels and drag players about, Ibrahimovic is very good at what he does and it isnt really his fault that he's not getting involved in games.

I thought Fellaini had a good game against Liverpool. Along with Herrera (and of course David de Gea) I thought it was a close call for man of the match. You can't be happy with Pogba though ? Against Liverpool even his first touch seemed to have deserted him..something I never thought I'd be saying about a player of his obvious quality.

We should never have bought the guy

So who was avaliable at the time that was World Class and has a better scoring record than Zlatan

Man United needed to buy a World Class striker as Rooney was not as good as he was and he was avaliable on a free. It made sense at the time

I wouldn't say Ibrahimovic has done badly for Man U, put it this way he's been better than Pogba. The real problem is that his presence in the team is he isn't the quickest anymore and he has stopped the very promising Rashford and Martial partnership from last season developing further. Martial has clearly gone in a sulk since plus I am starting to wonder if Rashford will be ruined too by getting shoved out wide all the time.

Thats the problem Man United have got as Mourinho is always going to play Ibrahimovic so that would mean Rashford and Martial are not going to play all the time

Mourinho had the balls to drop Rooney when Man United was not winning. Will he do the same with Zlatan

In all fairness he's looked good in games we've controlled and when he gets good enough service, no excuses today though for the chance he missed. Rooney is over the hill there's no two ways about, a squad player for us at best and I doubt he would've changed much today had he started. Not our best number 9 or 10 now, so where does that leave him? Mourinho doesn't want to hook him, so hopefully he'll freely leave due to lack of first team opportunities. Very sad and disappointing day in the history of our club today, maybe it's just off day but i've seen too many of these types of performances post Fergie for me to be discouraged. Whether its underperforming players, or players not good enough for us, we are a team that lacks hallmarks of a decent team. I knew from when were losing, it was over; when it comes to playing football, pure football especially against the top side we keep getting exposed? Maybe were not as good as some of us think we are. Top 4 was where I imagined us competing for this year, even that looks like it could be difficult for us. Something needs to change

The league is wide open, far too early to decide that any of the supposed top teams have no chance of doing anything. Hit our stride at home and we'll pick up enough points on the road to ensure that we're in the top 4.

Fair point, just utterly cheesed off after that performance tbh.

I hope that you are right, but seeing us going on a winning run at the moment is hard to see happening.

It was a one-off, definitely not a must win, these things happen. Combination of circumstances before and during the match, we all know what they are. The next league match is important though, we do need to win that one.

Not too bothered about the City match though, not as a 'must win' anyway though we do need to play well to regain confidence.

Burnley will be no pushovers, we will have to be right on our game to get the three points from that match.

No PL team is a pushover. We still need to win the next PL match though, who it is is less important but we should beat Burnley.

Having a read here with I must admit a bit of a smug grin on my face after todays result (sorry but you would be the same if it was Liverpool) - this short post quoted above is one of the most sensible content wise - especially the first 4 words.

For me there are 6 teams in contention - and it is I hope obvious who they are. All of them over the season will have bad days (see us V Burnley), it is the one who have least bad days who will win the title. Pre season I hoped LFC would do well but did not want to say so very publicly and this get ahead of myself as with our very hard start we could have been out of it after 6 games!! Thankfully that did not happen and now I would say we are definitely contenders but that is all - contenders, the same as MUFC who are also contenders despite what happened today. You are a team with too many good players for that not to be the case. It is a case of getting the mix right and I would not be so bold as to tell you what that is - what is clear reading the posts since the final whistle is that there is no agreement even amongst your own fans on what that mix is.
