Anyone else looking at that Middlesbrough game, and thinking that Valdes might just put in a man of the match display to earn them a battling draw?
Or is it just me, he will want to show the doubters, that he is still a good keeper, hopefully my fears prove to be unfounded, and we can come away with another win.

Yes, I too hope that we win our next game

How about a draw though?

Thought 1st half today was worst we've seen in a while. Lingard is a waste of a position and his usual invisible self.

You wait hours to watch - and hear - brief highlights on MOTD only to discover complete fecking silence on the HD version!

GRRR No BBC HD sound, the one I recorded.

MUTV to the rescue, full match just started in HD!

I knew the subscription would come in handy one day, in the end. Today is the day!

MUTV is free at the moment anyway isn't it?

I can't tell. Worth a try though for non-subscribers.

It's a horrible channel though. It could be fantastic but they make it the worst it could possibly be. I get that it's a club-run channel so will always be inherently biased but they could at least take the neutral Premier League feed commentators rather than having the two clowns they have now ruining the games.

Oh Flukie, you've made my morning. I've spent about 40 minutes thinking I'd messed up the sound myself and finally deleted it in frustration. I like to watch MOTD the following morning then I can FF the banal, awful interviews. Watched 'live' this morning instead. I love it when you say 'how on earth did he do that?', Miky's goal made me say that.

Can't agree with either of these, we've been far worse in halves this season than that yesterday. I'd also say that I don't think anyone really under performed either, however if claiming Lingard was invisible, I'd suggest that Herrera was the same. Lingard and Herrera both did the jobs asked of them, even if that wasn't to be the star player, we've got bigger and better players than both of them who are going to do things to get the acclaim, but you need players like the two mentioned to make the team go around.

They mimed something, I think.

Lingard is invisible every time he plays. He's 24 coming up and we have an expectation level of a poorly victorian child with rickets. He simply isn't very good. He's poor at positioning, defensively abysmal and he's muscled out of the game by a simultaneous slight intake of breath by more than 20% of the Stretford End.

More often than not when Lingard plays you have to remind yourself that he's even there. Every player has bad games and poor runs of form but I can't think of any on the team who when they touch the ball actually surprises people that they're actually on the pitch.

Thought herrera had his usual good game. Comparing him to the invisible man is a bit laughable really.

Lingard has one reasonable game every ten and that's enough in some people's minds to mean he still has potential. He will either still have that tag at 30 or be playing elsewhere and instantly forgotten at United.

He will always have that FA Cup final winning goal on his C.V., so that will be reason enough to look back on his time here with a bit of fondness.

A goal doesn't cover for an average player. And Lingard is an average player. I don't want him sold. I don't hate him. He's an average player but a decent squad option. Just wish people were realistic when appraising him. It's Richardson/Cleverley etc all over again. People absolutely refusing to see any criticism of certain players as valid simply because of their background.

Miki will rightly get the acclaim for the goal (even if it was off side), but Blind deserves some credit for it as well. He'd been part of the move that broke down just before the goal, but was the only player to close down the Sunderland player bringing the ball out. His challenge brought about the pass to Valencia who played it to Ibra. ”

In his dry spell, I was calling for Ibra to be subbed or dropped because if he wasn't scoring, he could hurt our play. But the truth was, even then, his ability to change the game with one world-class moment meant he had to play the full 90. That's even more evident now. And to think I didn't want him here at first...

As for Lingard, once Miki is up to speed he'll be what he should be: a bench option only.

Not to mention his willingness to run back for defensive duties, which for a huge 35 year old striker is impressive.

As for Miki's goal, there are no words!

We are looking really good, and we have a somewhat settled side now, especially the midfield, which basically picks itself, bar maybe the left side, which is still open for someone to claim.

The midfield of Pogba, Herrera, Carrick, and Miki, is looking very good, one of, if not the best midfields in all of the league, I wouldn't swap any of them for anyone else from any other side, that is how good they are, it is lovely to watch them all.

The move for Lindelof has apparently been 'held up' by a dispute between Benfica and his former club, Vasteras, over money.

This is according to The Sun, so make of it what you will.

The dispute is definitely real, it's been going on for a while. But claiming it's now delaying the transfer sounds like bullshit they've made to try and fill the time until January.

Apparently, a pretty reliable Portuguese newspaper is claiming that the Lindelof deal is done and that we're also going to sign Nelson Semedo from Benfica, although he'll likely join in the summer. He's a 23 year old right back who seems highly rated so it certainly sounds pretty plausible. Valencia has been very good but he's getting on and it doesn't seem to be happening for Darmian unfortunately. Shame cos I liked his signing.

I've read that the disputed amount is 'only' £212,000. If that's the case, we might as well just tack it on to the £38m we're supposedly going to be paying.

Semedo is one of the 4 players that Mourinho apparently wants before the start of next season. Like you, I'd expect that to happen in the summer rather than January, with Darmian possibly going the other way.
