Pity about Spurs winning 4-1 and going 3 ahead of us again, and Arsenal will probably win too to go 4 ahead.

But 5 games ago, we were 9 points off the top 4 and now we are 3 points off them. Progress but we need the win again, tomorrow!

Tomorrow feels like the big test of whether this recent turn around in fortunes is just 'right opponents at the right time' or something more.

We just need to keep on winning, at some stage surely it will pay off in terms of moving ahead of sixth place.

West Ham will as usual put up a fight, and be very hard to beat, but I believe that we have got the players and the unity now, to go there and come away with the three points.

Mkhitaryan's goal put into the shade by Giroud

Top quality goal by Giroud, it shouldn't diminish Miki's goal too much though, as it was still a fantastic goal in its own right.

Urgh, in previous seasons we would've been up to 4th by now (or at the very least 5th), shows how strong the league is this year. I guess we didn't help ourselves when we were drawing so many games earlier in the season. Still, we've made progress since then and we're closing the gap. All we can do is keep winning our games and wait for the teams above us to slip up... Hopefully our consistency will come through.

It does seem to be that the deciding factor in who finishes in the top four at the moment, is how each side does against each other, as most teams are beating those out outside of the top places.

Our run of draws is what is keeping us out of the top places, so we have to hope that we get some results to go in our favour, but really all that we can do is carry on winning.

Which is the opposite of how it used to, I have said a few time today that fifth and sixth will finish with a very high amount of points that would normally good enough for fourth.

Last season 66 points was enough for city to get fourth on goal difference , this season mid 70s in points might not even get fourth place.

Away from our game against LFC a lot of the teams above us are playing each other in the next few weeks so hopefully we can use that to close the gap, need to improve goal difference as well.

I think you have a tough run in this year.

We could finish sixth, and have a treble of sorts come the end of the season, (league cup, family cup and Europe league), which would be a but of a mixture in terms of feelings.

There is still so much to play for, and all of the club's know this, and no-one wants to be THAT club that has a run of two or three poor results in a row.

Small margins could decide the top four, be it goal difference, or a result here or there, to finish in the top four will require I believe great consistency from the four that manage to do so.

True. I think it could well come down to that and goal difference. We haven't done so well against the top teams so far, but I think we're more equipped to take on a top team right now with the team finally gelling together. It's gonna be an interesting few months that's for sure...

It's an awful place to be in.

Mourinho's getting it right, but don't pretend that we're where we should be.

And what's the 'Family Cup'?

God damn it! For some strange reason my auto correct changes FA to "Family" on a regular basis!

Onto the main part, I am not pretending we are where we should be for a single moment, as we should be a lot higher up than we currently are, it is those pesky and very costly draws earlier on in the season, in which we dominated, and should have most definitely picked up three points in, which is the reason why we are sixth, and most likely not in second or third place.

Today's match is crucial, as we could be somewhat cut adrift if results go against us, as we could be six points from fifth place if my calculations are correct, if we get beat, and other teams win their games.

So vital that we keep on winning, even a draw today would hurt a fair bit I think, when it is as tight as it between the teams above us (bar Chelsea), then or two games not winning can have a huge impact on things.

Chelsea beating Spurs would certainly help our cause somewhat, so I will be rooting for them, as I do believe sadly that our chances of lifting the title this season are over.

According to the BBC, and Crooks team of the week page, Valencia's pass completion was 98% for the game and he attempted more crosses than anyone else. Not bad for a player for whom many wrote off when the idea that we could convert him was muted.

Valencia is having a career renaissance, and he is doing very well so far, it is like he has been in hibernation mode for the past couple of seasons, and he has finally emerged as a new player!

I was looking at the stats and Man U have only been awarded 1 penalty this season!

This despite us having lots of shots on goal and retaining lots of possession.

Why so stingy refs ??

Predictions for tonight's game? I think it will be an easy win for United- West Ham have been poor of late. 0-3 I think.

Enough changes there to give a bit of freshness to the side, plus I always feel more confident when Carrick starts.

Important to get the win with other matches so far not exactly going in our favour so far.

That was never a red card no matter how much we stand to benefit....

Dean is having a shocker, worse than Mason..... Even ifnit's our benefit. Just don't need any of our lot jumping into a tackle so he can even it up.
