Today? Lingard.
I'd like to commend Jose for his decison making as well (as he said in his interview, Caroll is not for Carrick ) - and not just in this game. Apart from Fellani against Everton, he's got most calls lately.I'd also like to credit Herrera as well. He looked absolutely knackered today and his passing was off but he still put in a serious shift. One of our top five players of the season, no question. |

The one thing in Mata's favour today, is that he is the type of player who is a bit more creative than those who were on the pitch today and it suited him to come one when it did to aid the team. Taking Darmian off was also a good move, also the two forwards who went off really contributed to the team today. Miki didn't seem to have the ability to open West Ham up, which could be down to tiredness. |

Heathen!
Doesn't matter who the opposition are or the circumstances, to win all of your games over Christmas is impressive. Wasn't pretty today but considering we played 2 days ago it was purely about the result. I would say give all the big players a rest on Saturday, but Reading are no mugs and are on a decent run themselves, and we need to maintain the momentum. I van see a fair bit of rotation, the players coming in though will have a huge point to prove to José, and will be anxious to play well, so that they can force their way into the league games. I think Fellaini, Young, Rashford, and Rooney will start, with a few players playing today and against Middlesbrough having a very well deserved and earned rest. |

Great result today, but pretty poor performance. Still, two quality finishes and a clean sheet. Lingard was particularly dismal.
Absolute clown show from Dean, mind. |

Lingard, Mata and Martial have rotated for most of the season and neither have really made the spot in the team secure. I would rather we keep it the way it is, it seems to be clicking right now.

Decisions went our way today, but Man United are now 11 undefeated games in the PL. First time since Fergie left the club. Good stuff. Keep going. At this point you can't expect good performances every game in the congested fixture list, but we got the win.
Another vital victory. Keeps the pressure on the other teams and all the better with Liverpool dropping two points. |

Mata and Martial should be streets ahead of Lingard. That's not me hating on Lingard or anything, it's just that they have performed better this season and both have shown much higher ceilings in previous years. |

What do we have to do to move up a single position in the league table?!
How often has a team starting in sixth, won six games in a row, and still been in sixth place??! It is a tad bit frustrating to not see our efforts reward with climbing higher up the table, but all that we can do is keep on winning I suppose. |

We don't play Liverpool until the 15th. Give the likes of Carrick, Ibrahimovic, Pogba and Herrera some time off.

Hopefully it will mean an end to some of the silly posts from opposition fans claiming we are no better now than under Moyes.

We need to make sure that our key players get some time just to recuperate, so they can be ready for the second half of the season, if anything I would allow them a bit of a mini holiday until just before the Liverpool match. Let them totally refresh their mind and body, as we will need them to be in tip top shape ahead of first of all the Liverpool match, and then the following matches after. |

I would quite like to see Schwinsteiger play against Reading, or at lease some part in these next two games, to give Carrick some time to rest and heal any niggles that he may have.

Jose would often play strong XI's in cup competitions at Chelsea without that much rotation. Will be interesting to see what he does.

2nd place to us in 6th: 5 points gap (whatever happens in the Chel-Spurs match).
6th. to 7th: 9 points.gap. It's getting crowded up there, one or two of the managers above us must be getting nervous when they look over their shoulders.

Well said. Jose clearly likes the lad but he is by some distance the least talented of our regular forwards.
I'd like to commend Jose for his decison making as well (as he said in his interview, Caroll is not for Carrick ) - and not just in this game. One of our top five players of the season, no question. ![]() ![]() I jest, like you, I am completely approving of Jose and most of his decisions thus far. Although, I must confess that although he seems like a good lad, I fail to see the true merit of Lingard at the moment. Not sure that he's justifying his place over others at the moment. Herrera, on the other hand, has completely won me over- £30 million (approx) seems money well spent right now. And for anyone interested, I didn't wake up with a hangover this year.....but there's plenty of time to rectify that yet!. |
