God it's like Wednesday nights and Lushy Linda's here.
![]() Seriously, I agree with you that Jose really should ditch the lesser comps completely. He should just get us back into the CL as automatic qualifiers. For me, anything else will be either a bonus or irrelevant depending on how things go. For once, the Dude said something sensible - sorry Dude. What did they say about monkeys and Shakespeare....? Again, sorry Dude but you do ask for it at times.... |

Can't want anything other than a Spurs win vs Chelsea. They face Tottenham, Liverpool and Arsenal between now and 4th Feb. I'd like to see what their points tally is then in relation to ours before I start wishing for them to pull away over the horizon now just in case Liverpool catch them

I have just thought, what better match for Rooney to break our all time goalscoring record in, the the home match v Liverpool, I wonder what odds you can get on that happening?!

So for me, I would prefer the former to the later, that much is for sure, having to qualify would be a bit of a pain in the bum. |

United have supposedly rejected a £19m bid for Schneiderlin, from Everton.
I'd have been tempted at that price, but it seems that the club won't be selling cheap, this time. |

A good opening gambit, hopefully we can get more for him, as that is low when compared to some of the prices recently.

We paid £24m for him, I see no reason why we can't recoup that, what with the opening bids at near enough £20m.

I see that Docherty's been spouting his usual, bitter guff.
Seems to boil down to the fact that the club don't send him a Christmas hamper, and charged him for tickets a couple of years ago. |

Him and Moyes seem to be the only ex managers of ours which are a bit bitter towards the club, Sir Alex, Ron, Giggs, and LvG haven't really said anything bad about the club, shame really.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Za9r86bZx2g It doesn't paint a pretty picture to be honest. Paddy defends Busby to the hilt in this, but I've heard Paddy himself say that he was asked by Busby to tell him what the managers were doing, more so The Doc, than O'Farrell. I have some time for Docherty, had the club not sacked him (I doubt he'd be sacked for what happened in today's society), we would have won the league well before 1993. Even now, that side he created matches anything Fergie built for sheer exciting football. In Hill and Coppell we had the perfect wingers, who could bemuse full backs, score goals and uniquely come back and defend. Apart from Giggs and Kan Kan, we've never had a partnership like it since. |

Probably didn't offer him a free run at our physio's wife either.

He and Mary are still together, it was scandalous at the time, today it wouldn't be as shocking. We have to take into account as well that with Busby's influence still very much at the club, we were still seen as being a "catholic" club, so it's no shock that action was taken.

It would still be a big deal. Might not get you fired but you'd still get a huge punishment for sleeping with another employee's wife.

If we paid £24m, want £20m and are offered £19m, I can't really see why we haven't sold him yet. In comparison to some of the expensive flops over the years recouping just £5m less than we paid is a great deal.

As someone who didn't experience teams before Sir Alex, I will take your word on how good we were under Tommy, as all I have to go on is film footage, and end of season reviews on good old VHS! Giggs wasn't our manager. In the same way a student who gets asked to stand guard over the bottles of hydrochloric acid acid whilst Sir nips into the equipment room to fetch the test tubes, isn't really the 'teacher'.

So it is no longer about purely just getting any old price, just to get the player and his wages off of the wage list. |

Just came across this stat, it just goes to show the truly astonishing fitness levels of Ibra, and just how different him and Rooney are:-
"Zlatan Ibrahimovic is making his 820th career appearance today, he's missed just 36 games through injury in 18 years." |

I loved Docherty's team and the way they bounced back from relegation and as a result, I have more time for him than I do Atkinson, that's for sure. Also, I had a Docherty (ghost-written) book on United at one time and he had nothing but praise for Sir Matt in it, while spewing bile in all directions at others in the club - even including poor old Dave Sexton. We also got relegated, on his watch. Pretty sure that would have been enough to get him the sack, in 'today's society'.
Anyway onto modern matters, I'm with Dude on Schneiderlin. Good to see us draw a line in the sand for once. Surprised there's been no concrete news about Depay though.... |

I actually enjoyed the Bournemouth-Arsenal match tonight on SS1! Thought the ars were doomed at 3-0 down but dammitall, 3 goals in the last 20 Grrr. Still, another 2 points dropped by a rival, not a bad Christmas-New Year so far.
Think I want a draw in tomorrow's game. Probably. |

Since I don't think we can win the league this season, then I would prefer a Chelsea win tomorrow, as Spurs are most definitely a key rival for a top place.
Dont you mean we wont win the league this season You cant really think you can still win the league do you |
