Great result. Still have no idea why City announced Guardiola signing half way through their season, Pellegrini has been a lame duck manager since then and it's shown on the pitch.

Rashford and Martial very promising again but still think virtually every other position we need to buy.

Hard to believe that despite everything this season we are only a point short of the Champions League places. Anything could happen.

Brilliant win, Rashford was superb as was Martial they could be our front line for years to come though obviously they still have a long way to go. I think the whole team put in a fantastic performance today and City never looked like scoring and that was in part due to our fantastic defence, now only a point of being in the top 4, which is crazy considering how poor we have been all season. I'm also pleased the gap is only down to 1 point as I was convinced City had a game in hand on us. Great win to go to the Ethiad win whatever the circumstances as City aren't the same team without Kompany, the only fault I can throw at the team today is why can't we play like that more often? if we did we would be challenging for the league.

Chris Smalling sounds wonderfully camp.

Crazy how we be so woeful against Liverpool away, yet go away to City and win.

I really don't understand this season.

You struggle with the concept of a team playing differently in two different games?
No, it is just so frustrating that we can win at City, but play so poorly against Liverpool.

The inconsistency is what is most annoying.

Yep, penalty any day of the week. Not sure how the ref missed that one, let's hope he sees that at half time and is a bit kinder to us in the 2nd. half and we play well, as a 1-0 lead is nothing really, unless you are Leicester.
Well we were, as it happens!

Stonewall penalty denied as well, well done lads.

Didn't see a win coming today, but with Liverpool blowing a two goal lead to lose and West Ham drawing it's turned into a good weekend. We'll probably lose our next league game though, it's been that kind of season.

Stunned by the scoreline. Top result that. Especially with us having such a high-octane match not so long ago and City coasting in their match against Kiev. Was so sure we'd get turned over I went out and didn't even bother to check on the phone. Just saw the last nail-biting twenty minutes or so of stoppage time

And sounds like Pool collapsed as well. Not a bad weekend at all. We are mostly crap and still in with more than a shout of top four. How the hell has that happened?

Great win. If we can knock City out of the top four it will be small consolation for this dire season.

Noticed there were a few empty seats during the match, bit surprised really considering it was the derby!

Great result. Always great to get a result against the Berties especially considering the season we've had.

My congratulations. You can still finish 4th and win Fa Cup. I would not bet against it.

Great win. Man City have been a bit of a shambles for a while and I suspect it is to do with the announcment of Pellegrini leaving and Guardiola coming in. I am still convinced that we just aren't good enough as a whole for top 4, but perhaps because of the failure of other teams rather than our own competence, we still have an outside chance.

If you finish 4th or better LVG probably stays. Would you rather finish 5th? Just wondering, do you want him out or not ?

Where do you get the idea that he would probably stay if the club got 4th?

Despite the win, I would still put West Ham as more favourites than ourselves to not only win the FA Cup, but to get that fourth league position, we are just to inconsistent.

Nothing he does now will erase some off the pitiful performances we've had under him. Because I like him, I hope he leaves with some dignity though but the end of the season can't come soon enough.

MOTD Commentator: "This is not a sight to warm the hearts of any football fan... or anyone... Joe Hart stretchered off the field of play".

Speak for yourself pal.

And now Alan Shearer thinks Smalling should have been sent off because there was contact but it wasn't a penalty on Rashford because it's a contact sport. Clown.

It would have been quicker if he'd just said what he meant i.e. "I wish City had won so we could have had another go at LVG".

On the other hand, with more injured players coming back soon, a bit of a break now from our horrific 2 games a week spell, no Thursday nights to worry about, 5 of the 8 remaining games at home and a couple of youngsters playing very well, we could finish the season strongly and nick 4th. Probably need to beat at least one of Spurs or West Ham away though but even then, we've done well against the top 6, even Leicester.

Come to think of it, we could decide who wins the title!

Being the team who decides who wins the league, is sure as heck not as much fun as being the team that actually wins it!

As for players coming back, when or if Rooney comes back before the season finishes, what do we do with him, as it does seem as if Rashford has formed a good partnership with Martial.
Will Rooney just go automatically into the starting eleven?
I am guessing as a favourite player of LvG, then he will, but it would be a bit of a shame to see Rashford dropped.

Also, does anyone think Shaw will play any part in the run in?

I think the temptation would be there for the board in the hope next season will be better as they've been very reluctant to sack him. The FA Cup could be the decider, if they got 4th and won the FA Cup I think he would stay, 4th on it's own though I'm not so sure. Personally I think it would be a huge mistake if United kept him on.

Didn't expect to win that. Held well in the second half.
I had a sneaking feeling we'd win.

When others were predicting a battering yesterday, I countered that by saying City are not all that & that we're more lymatched these days.

City have been poor since Guardiola was announced & they're not the terrifying force they were 3 - 4 years ago.

I've never see Jesus Navas have a good game for them. One of those players they really need to upgrade if they're serious about the CL. Same with Bony, terrible signing.

City have a fair few poor signings, Delph is another one, sometimes it seems that they sign them purely to satisfy the home-grown regulations.
