Hey we are only a single point behind fourth place, so it isn't totally out of the question just yet!
I would be shocked if both Stones and Lukaku leave in the same summer window, as your board and management would look pretty weak if they did, and not very ambitious. One perhaps I could see them just about being able to talk themselves out of, but both of them, no, that would put them under far too much pressure. One thing though, this summer will be very interesting in the transfer market, looks like most of the top teams will need to spend big, some more than others...then the likes of Everton with new money, West Ham will be wanting to strengthen as will Leicester. |

I wouldn't...if both go, that could be £100 million +...in addition to whatever the new guy puts in. Personally I would rather not sell Lukaku, but if he is unhappy, want's to play CL football, then it is better to sell the player, rather than keep him on the books. Stones I am really not fussed about.
One thing though, this summer will be very interesting in the transfer market, looks like most of the top teams will need to spend big, some more than others...then the likes of Everton with new money, West Ham will be wanting to strengthen as will Leicester. Obviously you know far more about the situation then I do or will, but from a purely outsider perspective, I would still be shocked if both were sold on the same window, as it would not exactly paint you in a good light, in terms of looking to be a progressive club. I agree with you on the general point of this summers window could be a very busy one, and that there are quite a few teams that will get looking to do business, and with all of this extra cash coming their way, we could be in for some fun and games! |

It's possible but as we are so consistently inconsistent I don't really have faith that we will do it.

I agree there, and West Ham are still very much in the reckoning as well, but even so, as long as the gap is as small as a single point, then I am not totally saying that we are out of hope for a Champions League place.

Yet just over a week ago thats exactly what you did.
West Ham have I think a better chance than we do of finishing in fourth place, but it is not totally, 100% out of the question that we can finish there, whilst the gap is as small as it currently is. |

Strange how results from you know actual matches, affect people's opinions on where they think a team could finish isn't it?

So one match takes us from you being on suicide watch and saying that the Europa League exit extinguished any CL hopes to you now saying its back on because the gap is so small?
Yes Batdude that is strange. Very strange. If being down about that, and having that affect my mindset at the time makes me strange, then so be it, as I not going to apologise (for once) for getting down about getting beat by Liverpool, it hurts me when we do, it hurts a lot. Just as beating another rival in City also means a lot, again I am not going to apologise for enjoying that particular result, it was great! The gap being just one single point does give us an opportunity, just as it gives West Ham an opportunity, and of course City an opportunity to all fight for that crucial fourth place. Results will have an effect on how people (not just myself) view who will finish where, even more so as the games run out. |

Oh I am sorry for feeling down and very disheartened about getting beat in Europe by Liverpool, I must remember that it meant nothing, and I should have just felt nothing over that particular result and the effect it had on us exiting European competition.

I also didn't say anything about enjoying a result or being disappointed about a defeat either. Its your extremes. Last week we were a disgrace and an embarrassment and marching backwards at full speed, now you are saying we may qualify for the CL! |

Im pretty sure most people think more than one game ahead.

Last week we were a disgrace and an embarrassment and marching backwards at full speed, now you are saying we may qualify for the CL! We were a disgrace and an embarrassment the way we went out of Europe, unless you think or thought that we did ourselves proud over the two legs? Equally so, credit has to be given when we do well, and we did well in the derby, again unless you happen to think differently about that result? One point unless I am missing something, is only a small margin, and so therefore we do have a chance of getting that fourth spot, but it all depends on our results, as with everything. So the only match that matters in getting that fourth place, is the Everton match, win that, and we are still very much in the race for Champions League football next season, draw or get beat, and we had the advantage to other teams around us, as it is just so very close, and very hard to call at thus stage. |

With is being as inconsistent as we have been, thinking more than one game ahead is pretty much impossible to do, as due to that inconsistentcy, it is hard to tell just which side will turn up, the good or the bad.

When you were ranting last week we were still in the position of closing the gap if we beat City yet you had completely ruled out CL qualification because we went out of the Europa League, now you are saying its back on. Anyway I dont care, but it why you can't be taken seriously. |

Anyway I dont care, but it why you can't be taken seriously. We have had so many poor results and poor performances that it is quite amazing to think that we do still have a chance of making the top four. Results are the deciding factor in my opinion as to where we might very well end up, and currently we are in a good position to get a top four place, but one slip up, and that does allow others to take advantage, such is closeness in points of the teams around us. I certainly hope that I can be taken seriously, as I only use commonsense to form my views, such as results and our performances as of late, and so far both have been all over the place, so it is hard to predict anything at the moment! |

Some transfers are rooted in logic, some are driven by emotion. Zlat is the latter, he's 35, probably too old to be entering this league, he's nuts, but I'd be doing cartwheels if we got him.
He absolutely hates Pep, and loves Jose. He'd love it here. |

Can't doubt his quality but at 35 I think you can doubt his motivation and ability to cope with the physical demands of this league.

Lukaku in The Guardian today: Quote:
Everton’s Romelu Lukaku: I want to play in Champions League next season
Romelu Lukaku has made plain his dissatisfaction at Everton’s poor campaign by expressing a desire to play Champions League football, indicating he may well see his future away from Goodison Park next season. Lukaku, the scorer of 25 goals this season, is with Belgium in Brussels as they prepare for the rearranged friendly with Portugal on Tuesday. The former Chelsea striker said “the next step” for him would be to play in Europe’s elite club competition, for which Everton, 12th in the Premier League and 13 points shy of Manchester City in fourth place, have no chance of qualifying. “That is the next step for me. I’m 23 next summer and I think it would be nice to play in the Champions League from next season,” he told Sky Sports. Lukaku’s father has urged his son to seek a move away from Everton and the striker said he welcomed being linked with the likes of Bayern Munich and Manchester United. “That is my dad’s point of view; I think those are the teams he likes,” he said. “It means people are keeping an eye on you. “I have an agent who is dealing with this for me at the moment. I just want to be good, help my team-mates win games and score lots of goals.” Lukaku has also been linked with a return to Chelsea, the club he left for £28m in 2014 but he was clear he had no unfinished business with his former club. “No, I would not say that. I don’t think I have anything to prove against them,” he said. “I moved on, they moved on. It was the best deal for both teams because they won the league and I became a better player so we will see what the future brings.” |

Yes, looking at things what happen on the pitch helps to determine my views.
For what it's worth, despite your last declaration, United were always in the race for the champions league spots. |

Going from "our CL hopes are finished" to "it's not all lost" every game isn't commonsense, it just makes it difficult to take you seriously. After the next game it'll be difficult to know how to respond to you because I won't know if this is your actual opinion, your post-match overly emotional reaction that Jurgen Klopp isn't allowed, or is just your opinion until Man City plays. |

You could easily program an automaton to say 'yay, we r good, i would say' after a win or 'boo, we r no good, i would say' after a defeat. Or perhaps 'Southampton are better than us' when they're above us in the league and 'We are better than Southampton' when they fall below us.
You expect a little more depth from human beings though. |

Rooney couldn't be more unpopular if he was one of those single men in their 30s who attended youth basketball games

Though having said that a guy I used to know, Friend of a friend of a friend type thing, used to have a huge sense of self importance just because he was the guy that opened up the leisure centre and put the five a side goals out. Actually thought he was a part of the team because of it. Rather sad character to be honest. |
