Sometimes you just have to dig in and get the results, and today was very much a case of that.

It was bloody awful.
The result was vastly more important than the performance, we can try to put in a better one against Spurs, today after the first half, it was all about getting that vital win, and we somehow managed to do just that. |

Seriously your desire to take issue with ever bloody thing I say is beyond tiresome. At 12.40 in this thread you jump on the mention of signing Barkley with the usual "Id be stunned if any of them (the big three) left Everton in the summer", by six o'clock in another thread you are saying "Id be stunned if more than one of them left in the summer". You haven't a clue what you are saying from one moment to the next and just go round 'having" to comment on every single thing as if it was a job. |

If we can get back on track, rather than continuing to get personal, whilst today's match was not a great performance, (or even a good one), there are still plenty of positives to come out of it, Mensah is adapting to first team football very well, and it was great for him to get the assist for the goal. Another clean sheet is good, and it certainly gives us something to build upon going into what will be a very hard game against a Spurs side who will be looking to get back to winning ways, and back into possibly the title picture. |

I certainly know what I am saying, and I don't have to go into other forums, I merely post when or if I feel that I can contribute to that particular thread.

You dont know what you are saying at all. This afternoon you continued to argue that Everton wouldnt sell their 3 star players and it would be a PR disaster if any of them left, then you got into another thread and say you would be surprised if more than one left. What the point discussing when you dont know your own opinion? |

All I said was that it was bloody awful, which it was. I didn't need an essay on the importance of 3 points - I'm sure we know that.

What the point discussing when you dont know your own opinion? They will be the ones to make this decision, not the player or the banks. So my opinion is the same, I would be shocked if one or more of say, Lukaku, Stones, or Barkley were sold this summer. |

I do know my opinion, and it is one that I have been consistent with, that I would not back any bet that says that Everton will sell any of their prized assets this summer, as financially they don't need to.

If just once you held your hands up to these things it would be at least something but no, its always "I have been consistent......." in the face of the clear stark evidence that you are anything but. 12.40 - no sales 6.00 - no more than one sale 6.30 - of course i am being consistent blah blah blah. |

Didn't you say recently that there was no point in a club keeping an unhappy player? And something about De Gea wanting to leave? How is that any different to someone like Lukaku, if he did want out?

Why do I find myself shaking my head whenever we play?
It's so sad to see a fine playing tradition being totally ignored by the current management. |

Insipid, but keeps us in touch with 4th I guess. Trouble is 4th means LVG might stay so I'm conflicted about that.

How do you explain the shift from you saying none of them would be sold to potentially one of them being sold?

I don't think Everton will sell one of the three main players that are getting a lot of media attention, unless they decide it is right for them to do so, and that they have a suitable replacement line up, as all three are too valuable to them from an on the pitch perspective, and all three have a connection (looking at this purely from an outsider perspective) with the fans. So if they were to end up selling even one of the three, then I can only imagine or think, if I were an Everton fan, that I would be very disappointed to see that player leave. If Everton do in fact end up selling one, two or three of them in the same summer window, then it would be a sign as to where and what they think of themselves, as it would not send out the best of signals to the rest of the squad, if they sell their best players, especially when they don't need the cash injection this of all summers. |

I thought we were OK today. Got to remember that Everton have only lost once away from home this season. Although Everton & the fans are far from happy, that stat is still pretty good going at this stage of the season. I'd have taken a messy 1-0 win before the game knowing that.
With all this said, I still don't feel like we'll get top 4. We look far from convincing and this looked a certain 0-0 before the game to me, I wasn't a million miles away. It's weird to think we were top of the league earlier in the season, albeit briefly, yet now I'm not exactly hopeful of top 4. I do sincerely hope I'm wrong though. Sitting here now, top 4 would be a wonderful surprise. |

If like De Gea, it is personal (wanting to live with his girlfriend in Spain), it is a delicate issue to deal with, and one that requires a lot of discussion to see if there is any way around that, by the looks of things, with him being willing to sign his recently new contract we found a way, that made him happy enough to sign that In terms of everyone else, it all depends on the situation, if it is a footballing one, then that will have to be discussed with the manager to get his feelings on if the player can be at all persuaded to stay on or not. If the player did want out, then the club would have to begin looking to replace him, but it would still have to be on their terms, as they would be entitled still to look for a fair price for the player. |

You don't see them selling any of the big 3? But you see them doing so if they have a replacement?
Doesn't mean that they will end up selling though, if no one meets their demands for the respective player. |

Keeping an unhappy player would be a tough decision to make, you have to take into consideration, the individual player, and why he is unhappy.

Nice to see top 4 is now very much within reach after it being 100% out of the question a couple of weeks ago and nothing but a pipe dream after that. That'll be the consistency thing again. Anyway, you are right as always so lets move on safe in the knowledge thats another good debate to be ticked off the list. |

If De Gea wants to leave it won't be because of his girlfriend, and he didn't sign that contract because he's happy to stay. You also recently implied he wouldn't want to stay with the way the club is going after a poor result.
You said if the player wants to leave it's still in the power of the clubs due to not having to sell because they won't need the money. Even though people know football doesn't work that way, contracts aren't that concrete. But some investment somehow means a club has the power to keep an unhappy player, so even if Lukaku says he wants out of Everton that still doesn't convince you he's available, yet it's not a good idea to keep an unhappy player. Which is it? |

Watching the Ferguson interview 2 things strike me.
1) Even at 74 Fergie looks and talks like a man who could still be managing us. 2) I think he would appoint Pochettino given half a chance! |
